then name 4 negative effects they have on USA.

Also, can you name any residual effects postive or negative that the children of illegal aliens will have on the USA once they are of school age and beyond.

I would like the answers here to be more factual rather than hyperbole.

Illegal immigration causes many problems that's for sure. That is an indisputable fact. Given your estimate of 20 million illegals let's proceed from there. Let's say even 1/3 of them are holding jobs. That's almost 7 million people in the workforce. Contributing to the tax base etc. That would leave 7 million job vacancies. Would our nation be able to handle that many leaving the workforce? Probably not. Would Americans step into these jobs for the pay offered? Probably not. Companies bottom line is profit. Would they raise wages to get Americans to work these jobs? Probably not. More companies would begin to outsource. Thus leaving many Americans out of jobs that now hold jobs. Our entire country would collapse and the Great Depression would look like a cakewalk. As I've said illegal immigration is wrong and needs to stop. But we also need to be realistic on deporting as you say 20 million people. Believe me...It's not going to happen for various reasons. So we must move forward and think of realistic ways to deal with the situation at hand and also insure the illegal situation is stemmed in the future. Better border security and visa systems need to be taken care of first and foremost so the situation doesn't progressively get worse. Once the flow is stopped we can then work on what to do with those already here.

I'm concentrating on issues that don't apply equally or moreso to poor American citizens.

Positive:

1. Work hard for low wages, keeping American businesses internationally competitive.

2. Fill jobs which would otherwise be hard to fill.

3. Pay social security taxes without having any chance of collecting their own benefits.

4. Send money back home, giving people in other countries a positive impression of the USA for a cost that's less than the foreign aid budget of the federal government, and which costs the taxpayers nothing.

Negative:

1. Mild suppression of wages for the least skilled Americans

2. Contribution to overcrowding in some areas and overburdening of local government services in some areas. The USA has more than enough space, but some of the cities don't, and the illegal immigrants are often concentrated into these cities.

3. Form a wedge that divides Americans, and has led to a lot of rancor

4. Commit identity fraud in enough cases to be a big headache to a lot of Americans.

I think the long term effects will be minimal. Studies have shown that Hispanic immigrants have integrated into mainstream American society about as fast as past immigrant groups.

1) Our neighbors to the south are failing to develop as they might have, had their countrymen not run off

2) Our schools are reduced to sandboxes with pictographs

3) Retail giants are confused which language our Constitution was written in

4) Pancho Villa is a famous taco joint
