When you get excited, your blood flows more rapidly, your adrenaline may flow, and other natural chemicals flow through your body and your brain that make it almost impossible to sleep.

On the other hand, once you stop being excited, your body responds by releasing chemicals to counteract the "excited chemicals" in an effort to neutralize them and put the body back to a normal balance. There are quite a few people that get very drowsy an hour or two after being excited because of that.

too much adrenalin running through your body. adrenalin is a hormone that causes the heart to beat fast among other things that prevent you from relaxing. if you are excited also, things keep running through your mind that keep you up.

Our Brains need time to "shut down" before they can go into "sleep mode" (kinda like Computers... -it takes a minute for them to turn off). If your brain's REALLY hyped up, full throttle, it has a HARD time getting down to that resting state. And SOMETIMES- it won't even go there AT ALL! :0
