Wellmy daughter is a highschool cheerleader and an honor student who also runs track, competes in her church drama team and is an all state honor choir participant. They practice 3 times a week for 3 hours each, cheer at least one game if not two each week, perform at pep assemblies, work concession stands, make spirit sings for the school, sell things during their lunch hour and at all the fun school activities when other kids are goofing off they are working. There is not a girl on her squad who isn't a top student, and any behavior "unbecoming of a rep of the school" and they are booted so, so much for the slutty rep.- Sounds like youhave a lot of older women pissed because they werent' cheerleaders answering your question.

Honestly, when I hear cheerleader I think of a girl in a skimpy outfit doing high leg kicks and gyrating her hips. By the way, that's not just what I think, it's what I see. This is not stereotyping it is just a straightforward description. And if you think the guys in the stands are not looking at it sexually then you are being naive. Interesting point... If the cheerleaders know that what they are doing is provocative to the guys then what is their mindset toward this activity?

You're sorry if it's spelled wrong? You're not a cheerleader are you?
Cheerleaders are the living proof that feminism has failed and that women can't stop making sex objects of THEMSELVES - no men required. The damning aspect of this is that they are UNPAID - even the world-famous Dallas Cowgirls are amateurs!
Feminists and female activists (myself (a male) included) have begged women for years to stop debasing themselves by parading in beauty pageants, strip joints, topless bars; as bunny girls, 'glamour' models, fashion models, sex models; on websites like 'Bang bus', in pornography; as lap dancers, in Miss Wet t-shirts competitions, as Prom queens, cheerleaders, 'escort' girls, prostitutes, etc. BUT they steadfastly refuse.
Do I believe the stereotype? OF COURSE I DO! Stereotypes *become* stereotypes because there is truth in them; and does the evidence not speak for itself?
I imagine there are other examples of women selling themselves sexually that I haven't mentioned - this is what women do best, it's what they aspire to, it's what they LIVE for! Ask any women who is against any of these things and you'll find an ugly woman or a lesbian (and in all cases, if they weren't either of those things, they'd be up there getting 'em out with the best of 'em). Of course, I'm generalising here; the truth is...only MOST of them are ugly or lesbians and only MOST of them would do as much if they could.
Oh, and in case you don't think cheerleading is about sex, be informed: it is *applied sexual psychology*, that is, the specific intention is to inspire better sporting performance in the men on the field by inciting the natural masculine instinct to show off in front of sexually attractive potential mates.

I think of my friend Karen who was a cheerleader. I HATED her in high school. We had known each other since birth.
I saw her at my ten year reunion and she had mellowed out considerably. We reconnected on some classmates site a couple of years ago. Recently after we got "reconnected",
she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I enjoyed about two years of Karen being my friend again until she passed away in Feb. 07.
I have a soft spot in my heart for cheerleaders now.
The "Rah Rah" b.s does not last forever even thought I now wish it did.

JUST KID DIN YAU
There are two kinds.small town sports.and big city pro school cheer teams.
I like small town cheer leaders because they
inspire there teams and shool pride.
Cheer teams only work for themselves wile
repasenting The school at mettings.
I don't believe in steriotypes but girls seem
to pick the prettiest and sexiest lookin.
Cheerleders seem to end up dating football
players
If you want to be cheerleader go for it
the schools would be empty with out them.

I think a cheerleader is someone to cheer on the team. In highschool they are having fun getting the crowd involved in the game. The cheerleaders of the college, are a little bit more athletic , but do the same thing as highschool girls. and professional teams are suppose to do the same thing, but use skimpy outfits to get attention. But all in all it is to get attention for the team.

Cheerleaders tend to be insecure, afraid of being themselves and very concerned with being pretty and popular. In my experience, they spend too much time on their social lives and not enough time on developing their brains.
I recently had my 10-year highschool reunion and none of the cheerleaders had done anything good with their lives. Most had had children right away (one even got pregnant during school) many were divorced and none had left our hometown for any reason.
And, they're not slim or pretty anymore.
