What size of an Ipod would you think would be suitable for a 8 day cruise?

I'm going down to the keys a week before then heading out on the cruise.

I'm going to take a wall charger and one for the laptop. I simply don't want to run out of music to listen too. I am not concerned about battery life. I simply want the music I want to take to fit which is around 1,000 songs. I want to make a wise investment and I want to purchase an Ipod.

I think you are missing the point.. its not how much music can you listen to in 8 days, but how much time will you have available to listen to just music.

So.. not counting travel to the ship and back...

On the sea days,... by the pool... wandering around thru town.. and in your own cabin which won't be a lot when you are not sleeping.. or watching the cable..

that makes it out at a maxium of 4 to 6 hours a day... if you did that a solid 8 days at 6 hours that is 48 hours of use.

not a whole lot of song... I would take a nano.. that way you can load up some books on tape or photos to share

BUT.. be sure to take a charger with you unless you are also bringing a laptop ... the nano wont go more then about 3 or 4 days of that use before it dies..

First of all you may want to repeat this question under the category for consumer electronics so that the real teckies who hang out there will give you some pros and cons of the Ipod, maybe versus some other MP3 players.

Now I have a Dell Digital DJ that holds 20 Gig and right now I have used about 12 Gig on it. I don't know or care how many songs that is. All I know is I have ALL of the music I need when I cruise, be it 7, 12, or 15 days. Back a few months ago I did some research about buying a new MP3 players because mine quit working. Then I suggestion is to get the biggest storage capacity that you can afford because in the end its a lot easier to just load everything that you think you MIGHT want vs having to decide what to delete to put something else on.

PS: after my Dell DJ quit I was able to find another very slightly used one for half the price I originally paid for a new one, and thus far it has performed beautifully. I have been and continue to go on lots of cruises and like to be able to take my music with me too.

Obviously it depends on how often you listen to music and if you want to repeat any. For an 8 day cruise I use my 20GB ipod with about 2500 songs in it. By listening to it a few hours a day on average and not skipping too many I had no need to have more. This might be a good number but again it depends on how often you want to use it.

You really will not need an ipod, There is absolutly loads to do on cruise ships, Believe me, Maybe just take it for the flight home but i tell you theres alot more to do than to listen to ipods.

It might be fun to not take one at all. You could talk to people and make new friends. That is a positive aspect of cruising.

u mean lik battery life? how much do u plan on listening to it? i know their batteries wont last 4 8 days without charging so.... i have no idea... prolly the classic or nano
