can they follow body heat deep underground through cave systems? Is there anything that blocks their signals like lead or aluminum foil?

Aluminum foil hats help block out the mind control rays. Just Kidding. Both the optical and thermal systems have limitations. The more space and obstacles between them and the subject being monitored, the less clear the signal. Distance underground, walls, cloud cover, electrical storms, minerals in the earth, etc.

There are no satellites up to this level of sensitivity yet. A single body doesn't give off enough heat to be detected through 12 miles of atmosphere out ti a range of some 210 miles in space. Regardless of what Hollywood shows, sensors haven't quite gotten there. Maybe in about 5 - 10 years when they work out cooling the detectors properly.

To track body heat, the satellite will need to be able to see infrared. Infrared can be blocked. That is not hard. A storm will definately cover it up and a person underground will not be seen. I saw on an episode of "Cops" or one of those police shows where the police were trying to find a guy who had hid in a field. A police helicopter was using an infrared camera to try to find the guy. He was hiding under some pretty dense foilage and the camera could not see him. They finally found him when he stuck his head out to get a look around.

Mythbusters also worked on trying to defeat an infrared sensor in one of their cat burglar myths. They succeeded when they used glass. I have seen mylar block out infrared cameras before as well.

Visually they can see a meter square. That allows them to see heat from a human. There are radars that can track subs deep underwater. Others can pin point and listen to somebody on a cell phone or single radio.

very power full!! it can find a mouse lost in New York city! Sometimes storms can cause little miscalculations because of the heat in storms (friction)
