The ONLY religion is the one that you can truly with all your SOUL believe in. Each person practices his or her own religion. We are all unique individuals, with unique gifts. The religion that suits each of us to a T is the true religion for each of us.

Most religions started with the truth as taught by a master, son of God, prophet or enlightened being and then were added to through the years and the ages with the thoughts and imaginings of people who were not of the same consciousness as the original teacher. Simple misunderstandings have been built into traditions as meaningless as any human folly. Some have grown into monsters of hate and intolerance. Each religion carries a seed of truth deep within it. However each religion that I have come in contact with also has a lot of human ego mind stuff covering that truth. The big error people make is in confusing religion with what religion points to. What religion points to is spirituality. Spirituality is a deeply personal direct experience of absolute truth (God). Religion is made up of the stories people tell about that absolute truth. The confusion centers around the fact that words cannot contain or even come close to encompassing absolute truth. So, every religion , because it is based in language, can never hold within it the absolute truth; they can only point in the direction that one can follow to find that connection with absolute truth within their own lives. Any church, religion or individual who proclaims they are the sole keepers of the truth are deluded; the truth lives in everyone's heart.

John 4:24 - "Jesus said unto them; I am THE way, THE truth and THE life. NO MAN comes to the Father EXCEPT THROUGH ME."

Since I know Jesus personally and know that He is indeed all that He says He is there is only one true belief on earth that will secure eternal life for any man, woman or child. It's called Christianity, and the only way into it is repentance for our sin and trusting Christ for salvation.

Acts 4:12 - states that there is no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we "MUST" be saved. That is also in reference to Jesus.

Now everyone has a choice to disregard the Bible and believe whatever they like. The problem with that is - If Christ is the only way as He said and someone chooses another way they will be lost for all eternity and will have rejected the only truth that can save them.

Eternity is a long, long time to live with a mistake. Multiply a billion times a billion years of our time and you will only have the beginning of eternity. I would want to know for sure if that amount of time will be spent in punishment or peace. Seems wise to me - how about you?

Acts 14:11-15
“And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was at the entrance to the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.”

In one sense, they're all true as long as they're sincere.

In another sense, the belief of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS (mormon) is that in order to have true modern prophets, true modern revelation from God, and true authority to perform the miracles and ordiances of God, it has to be founded upon a priesthood line of authority given through the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. This leaves either the Catholic church, which claims an unbroken priesthood line of authority back to Jesus Christ, or the LDS church, which claims there was an apostacy when Christ's apostles were killed and the priesthood was taken from the earth for about 1800 years and restored again in the year 1820 by the visitation of God and angels.

The way to tell which church has this true priesthood is of course through study and prayer, exercising faith, listening to spiritual feelings in your heart, and looking for the fruits (by their fruits ye shall know them- Matt 7:16).

If anyone reading has an open mind to this, you can request a free book of mormon at http://www.mormon.org/mormonorg/eng/basic-beliefs/the-restoration-of-truth/god-is-your-loving-heavenly-father#d

When you ask which is the one "true" religion...that opens it up for too many opinions. However, the "oldest" religion is what is now called paganism. Although...early man had no name for why they honored their Gods of nature....they simply did.

All of them and none of them. They all think "theirs" is the ONLY true one.

Christians think Christianity is because Jesus said I am the light , and way.

Islam thinks it's the only true religion because of Mohammad's teaching.

As long as you believe in something bigger than yourself, you live life morally and by some credo or commandments then you're living the one true religion.
