Remember Jim Jones - another nutty white cult leader
About Applewhite.. was in the early 1970s, and people who knew him then said they saw no omens of the zealot Applewhite would become. But for reasons that were unclear, and with a suddenness that was equally mystifying, he was seemingly transformed into someone else from 1972 to 1975, a budding cult leader with beliefs in aliens and Armageddon.
Applewhite and a female companion, refashioning themselves first as Bo and Peep, and later as Do and Ti, set off on a nomadic adventure through the Midwest and West, preaching their unorthodox gospel and beckoning people to prepare with them for an ascent into the stars. It was that journey that apparently led to what happened inside a million-dollar house in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., where the bodies of 39 cult members, who had committed suicide, were found on Wednesday. Late Thursday, the authorities determined that the body of Applewhite, 65, was among those recovered from the house

Oh, why didn't you say, Heaven's Gate? Yeah, I remember that.
Your words:
...39 cult members, who had committed suicide, were found on Wednesday. Late Thursday, the...
...hence my confusion. Some people will worship ANYTHING other than the God of Judeo-Christianity, I'm sorry to say it.
I would not rule out the possibility that Applewhite had contact with aliens. I found out that firsthand that those aliens are quite real, and that they would like all of humanity to go the way of that cult. They are restricted from using all of their resources to do whatever they want; they have to destroy people "legally." There are regulatory criteria by which they may try to deceive people. In Heaven's Gate's case, it was by luring those people into old-fashioned idolatry.
Some things in this world are very hard to explain outside of the Judeo-Christian model of reality, and that's one of them; that good and evil are organized, intelligent, opposing forces at war over the hearts and minds of all people.

heres a bullet hole in your theory:
the majority of jim jones followers were NOT white.
read a book.
I answered your question perfectly. Look up gullible. The followers ARE gulliable. And the leaders are not ALWAYS believers of their own rhetoric. they are often Con men. Which makes the only Consistently gullible party the Followers. Maybe you should reread your question.
You must be too riled up to read this. As I said: Many of them are Con men and dont even believe their own brainwashing delusions. It looks like the only guy whos answer you liked is the one you repeated your question. Don't be fooled into thinking that you trying to belittle me hurts or makes my point any less valid. I know what I am saying and others agree that my answer is accurate. And it is pointing out the same thing as some of the others on here, White people aren't the only cult leaders. And the being gullible doesn't only apply to the person who makes the stuff up, it also describes the people dumb enough to believe it. Don't ask a question if you can't take the fact that your opinion isn't the only one out there.

It's not a question of why people are gullible, it's the cults themselves- most cults are okay, they just believe in strange stuff and worship rocks or whatever, but some get into your head, very subtle brainwashing techniques, they force you into doing things. Only a small minority of people actually get up the will to leave those types of cults once they enter them, it's all to do with peer pressure and psychological stress.

It's "follower syndrome". Some people don't like to think for themselves, they would rather just believe what others say rather than making an effort and actually researching these things! It's a easy as going to the library or owning a friggen computer with Internet for goodness sake! I don't think it is just one kind of race though, I think it's all around the world.

it rather is tough. do no longer understand something approximately Manning; i think of between something, Jones might win. the superb act of the Applewhite biz got here approximately purely down the line from the place I grew up, so as that one became fantastically creepy to me. I additionally remembered his tale from the "Bo and Peep" days, and that became style of a wierd twist, for the reason that at that factor all of them in basic terms appeared like in general threat unfastened backyard-style whackjobs. style of like Philip Berg, purely to tie this back to "Elections." EDIT: Gee, no person else looks to trust the respond you supplied on your man or woman question.

Humans are gullible -- part of human nature.
Different groups of people fall for different things.
And it's not any one race that does this -- history is filled with suicide cults going back thousands of years on every continent.

How does it feel to be a troll and non-contributor? Humans of every race want to believe in things and it has nothing to do with color. I've seen where many Hispanics believe in psychic surgeons. Whats your point?
