I got a ticket today. when the officer pulled me over he said I went on a yellow light instead of stopping (I did not pass after the light turned red) and also for talking on my phone. If anyone knows the new jersey law am I allowed to just say I was holding my cellphone (it was closed) in my hand and NOT talking or texting (I wasn't) . I was adjusting the sound settings and talking to my cousin in the passenger seat. Do you think I can argue this ticket?

depends on how much the tickets are and whether or not you would get points. if you go to court, chances are you could just talk to the prosecutor before court actually begins and they will lessen or maybe even dismiss one of your tickets (i'm assuming you got 2 - one for the light and one for the cell phone) which could eliminate points or reduce the charge. don't forget you will still have to pay court fees if you go to court. but i wouldn't necessarily "argue" against the officer because it's your word against his and they will def go with the officer.

If you don't think we believe you, why would you think a judge would? He will go with the officers statement. He may ask why you thought you had to adjust the sound settings while driving.

Nope. Pay the fine and learn. You and your cousin cannot possibly have anything important to yap about while you are driving. Grow up!
