I rescued 5 baby kittens about two months ago. I took them to the vet after I had them for about a week. They were all fine healthy and very busy. The vet said one had an upper respirtory infection but I saw no signs (ie) watery eyes or lack of appitiet. She also said they had worms so she administered the worm treatment and put them all on an antibotic. Within two hours the little one just stopped breathing and his brother has not been right since. We have named him Mr. Wobbles he looks like he is drunk all the time. I am going to be getting them vacinated in the next few weeks (by a different vet of course) but I am worried about Mr. Wobbles what if he gets worse. I am also concerned about when we get him fixed how being put under will affect him. I would appreciate it if anyone has any similar stories or would know what could be the cause for what happened.

Worm medication cannot caue problems, if it is the correct one for their age. Antibiotics can, though. I don't know what else to say, just ask your new vet about all these concerns, he will be able to answer after checking the kittens. My advice is to wait until they are at least 6 months to neuter them, because of this problem. You don't want very small kittens to be put under.

i used panicur when my kittens were five weeks old and frontline. the flea meds caused the kittens to lose fur and one went bald but thankfully has beautiful fur now. all meds have side effects. it is best to talk to your vet about your worries but some vets tend to think of their wallets first and animals second. bagheera my kitten from the litter that i hand raised is just getting over an infection which started after an allergic reaction and he has an upset tummy from the antibiotics. mr wobbles should be fine but check with your new vet.
