I have an 01 accord 4 dr. the transmission went out once at 58k miles and it was replaced for free because it was under factory warranty. Now its at 109k miles and the transmission is starting to act up again. But it is very hard to tell. only certain times in the morning it revs up.

I have a feeling it is going to get worse. Should I invest in a new car right now or should I put a new transmission in this one. I dont believe in putting money into the car once its past 100k but at the same time If I were to buy a new car right now I will be streching myself pretty thin financially.

And yes I am aware of the factory recall on all 01 accords and this is not covered under that recall.

My question to you is, did you have the tranny fluid changed at regular intervals?

Your manual should clearly state that the tranny fluid should be changed every 30K. If you didn't and you've put on 50K on the replaced unit without the required maintenance, then you are experiencing what you deserve.

I'd invest the $70 to flush the tranny and see if your shifting improves. That $70 spent 20K ago would be saving you problems now.

Otherwise, invest in a new car and take better care of it.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but you're going to have to spend about $3000 to fix a problem that $300 over the time you've had the vehicle would probably have prevented.

IF THE REST OF THE VEHICLE IN GREAT CONDITION, I WOULD INVEST IN ANOTHER TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THESE VEHICLES WILL RUN WAY PAST 200,000 MILES.

ALSO, DID YOU SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION AT LEAST EVERY 24,000 MILES, IF NOT DO IT THE NEXT TIME.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

I would go to a local tranny. shop, not one of the big boys like aamco, and get some idea of the problem and price to fix.
