Well today i was leaving for my Vo-Tech school from my normal school and there was this dog sitting infront of the school doors just peering in at the kids eating lunch. So me and a few other votech kids went out and started playing with it and everything else. Shes a real friendly dog , and look exactly like my dog i already have.
So instead of catching the bus to votech , i skipped and took her home with me , My other dog and her got along real well and played for awhile , they look exactly alike except she has alittle longer fur and doesnt have a black snout.
But im having trouble deciding the right thing to do. I feel like shes one of my own already. She doesnt have any tags or anything so i didnt want to call the pound because i dont want her to get put to sleep.
Any thoughts on what i should do ?? At the moment im just keeping her

Well, first off you should ask around at vet's offices and shelters if anyone has lost a dog. You may want to place an ad saying you found her, just in case she's somebody's pet. If no one claims her, you need to have her evaluated and vaccinated by a vet.

First you need to check that she is in fact a stray- I know you love her but someone else might be franticly searching. If no one claims her-then I would keep her!- If your family and living conditions(as well as budget) allow. Remember this will be twice the expense you already have with one dog. And you need to take her to a vet to check her for worms and other conditions because your dog could catch something from her. She sounds gorgeous.

I have a weakness for stray dogs, so I would probably keep it, but you may want to put up posters or something because it could actually be someones dog. If you do decide to keep it the first thing you should do is take it to the vet. Good luck.

Call animal control and just tell them you have her so if someone reports her missing, they can know where to find her.
Put up signs around where you can, like in grocery stores, vet offices, grooming offices, pet stores, etc.
Also post her as "found" on craigslist.com in the found section or pet section.
I know you must love her already, but remember, someone else may love her even more and may be heartbroken that she's missing. I know if my dogs were missing, I'd want someone who found them to try as hard as they could to get them back home.
Also, take her to the vet. You should make sure she's healthy enough to be around your dog. She also may be microchipped, which the vet could check.

Bring her to the vet and get her cleaned up. Call the local shelters or townpeople and ask them if they had lost a dog, or look for signs all over.
If you see no signs, put up your own, and if no one claims her, she is yours!
Then you can decide whether to keep her or not.
Don't worry; I had the same problem last year, and no one claimed her: now I have a great dane!

That's the sweetest thing i read in a whole day. Keep her and give all your love for both dogs your a good kid and im very proud of you. Just give them a bath ok?

Post either flyers or post an online posting (petfinders.com or craigslist.com)...should no one come forward you have a new pet. If someone does, then you just reunited them with a friend. Think about how you would feel if your dog lost it's way.

I would post FOUND DOG signs in the general vicinity of where you found her, and also try posting it on Craig's List. If you don't hear back from anyone, she's yours.
