i have had my rat for about 2 months now and i brought him when he was 4 months old he is a dumbo rat and since i have got him i havent been able to handle him i have tried to let him get used to my voice and my scent first but he is still scared of me what should i do?

The trick to socializing a pet rat is to hand feed it- Allow it to lick treats such as yogurt, jam and cream cheese right off your finger- Handle your rat several times a day for at least twenty minutes each time-and reinforce the handling with a treat. If the problem is biting, wear gloves, and double them up, so that you aren't bitten. It is unusual for rats to bite, but they may bite out of fear, or lack of confidence with a situation.
Does your rat have a friend? Rats are social creatures and need the company of other rats, and this is vital to their happiness- so if your rat is alone please consider adopting a second rat, it is no more work or expense to keep two rats.

Feed him by hand and let that be his only source of food.
He'll learn to come to you for food and then hopefully he'll become comfortable around you.

Hand feed him. You also might consider if you are wearing perfume. They are very sensitive to smells.
