It's a fair penalty under the current rules. BUT the current rules stink to high heaven.
I agree that Brian France is a dipstick moron, to the 25th power.

Yes it is fair. A smart crew chief can set up a car to pass
pre race inspection and have parts that degrade enough to
help the car handle better during the race. That's why they
have the post race inspection, just to make sure that that
doesn't happen. And if the post race inspection failed
because of damage to the car, then he wouldn't have been
penalized.

Not sure if it is fair, however it is nothing considering the car was illegal period end of story, and "Illegal" car should be docked points to the 43rd position, but the penalty is consistant.
It was not Edwards fault the chief set it up that way, however, an Illegal car should not be aloud to enter the race at all. The too low rule is rediculous anyways, they should be aloud to go as low as they want, hell if they go too low, they will have a hard time driving it anyways.

When junior got fined 100 points for a bracket that was legal 2 weeks before but they forgot to take it off when nascar changed the bracket, every body called junior a cheater. So all i can say is why the heck isn't it 100 points i will tell you why its because he is in the chase and they treat the drivers in the chase differently than anybody else.

Yes it was fair. It's the same as Johnny Sauter and Kyle Busch got earlier.

He is lucky it isn't more than 25 pts! If he can't over come that he doesn't deserve to win anyways! Didn't Johnson wreck the first two chase races last year and still won?
Sounds like you are a Edwards homer! His car could be disqualified and lose all points and the only thing he can say is crap I guess we need to make sure it fits the heights next time!

Could have been worse, he could have gotten 45 pts.. He is only 28 pts (I think now behind Gordon) its not the end of the world...Get over it, theres more races left..

Why should the driver be rewarded for a car that is illegal? He may have had an unfair advantage. That's why the driver is penalized.

the driver gains the "ill gotten" points. you must dock the driver too why should he benefit from an illegally better car?

I have absolutely nothing to add here. Just acknowledging your question, and shamelessly stealing points from one of my contacts.
