I'm only 13, any my parents and other people are always saying how good I am at taking pictures. Just wondering what you think of some pictures, because I'm thinking about taking a photography class this winter.

By all means, start taking classes and you can learn on your own, too. You are doing too much post processing, too heavy handed on the contrast and saturation. But not bad for your age.
To me, the gull was the poorest effort of the group. The mountain scene with the trees was nice, if you take off the overdone contrast, and the boy at the river, same thing, too much Photoshopping. (Or whatever program you are using)

Get a book called "Understanding Exposure", by Bryan Peterson. It will help you heaps. And take that class! You're on your way.

Yes, your pictures are good for a beginner. But, there is alot more to photography that just pointing and shooting. You have to incorporate the right amount of light and have the right shutter speed. To be a truly extraordinary photographer takes alot of practice and natural ability, which you have. So take some classes and learn new things!

13? wow

One thing...

Anyone really can take pictures of just a boat or a hill or someone at a pond, but it's the angles and composition that really matter. Try experimenting with different angles and go check out some photography books from the library.

But most importantly....HAVE FUN WITH IT!

You have a couple good ones there. Learn some compositional rules, though. Don't put your horizon dead center through the picture, and try to straighten it when you can. And don't put your main subject in the center either. Try the rule of thirds. Think of a tic-tac-toe grid, the way it's divided into thirds. Where the lines go are good places for straight lines, like horizons. 1/3 up or 1/3 down. Where the lines intersect are the best positions for a main subject.

I liked the last two the best. That one with smoke really caught my interest.

I would say that you have talent and that a class would help refine what you already have plus its very helpful to understand the basics of photography

p.s. dont edit your photos so much you lose the natural lighting and effect of the original

I majored in photography in University and won many awards...and I think your pics are good but the composition is too choppy! Seagull is just a NO!....nothing with that one.
the boats were good but cropped poorly.
The ideas with the forest and the smoking mountain were good but it looked like you could have included more in the shot...again cropped too short in the subject matter.
You do have an eye for photography and continuing with it in school will sharpen your eye. Great job for a 13year old!

Cool pics dude.
Go for a class and have fun, pick up a few books/magazines along the way and read them too, you can get some great learning from books that can help in the class.

You have some ability which will be helped by the photography class.

Are you shooting at a high ISO? Some look kinda "noisy" to me.

I do like your photos a lot, and the more you do it, the better it will get. If you take a class, it's just like a writer taking a poetry class who will learn how to take his words and form them into beautiful sentences. You have the vocabulary, you just need to learn how to arrange them more effectively. So much potential! Good luck!

Take the classes. There are some issues with your pictures that knowledge from a photo class will help you understand and correct in future images.
