I have a lovely little kitten who loves to scoop his dry food from his bowl and throw it onto the floor. I am wondering why he does this and how I can prevent it. He likes the food. He eats it often. He just likes to throw it around and mess up the kitchen floor before he has dinner. Any ideas?

he is playing with his food...sort of he like he would play with prey (like a mouse etc). he will grow out of it.

but...also different cats have different behaviors....i have a 12 year old cat that washes his paws in his water dish...and he does not lap up his water with his tounge...he uses his paw....all my other cats (3) use their tounges to lap up water.

so...they all have different behaviors...some out grow them, so do not...but arent they cute?

good luck :)

cats have natural instinct to play with their food I'm sure thats all yout kitten is doing, try squirting him with a spray bottle the next time you see him do this, its the best way to harmlessly train your cat

I have three kittens that do the same thing so you can imagine the mess! They are gorgeous though.

He's just playing with his food. He'll probably do this for life. My cat does it and she's 4.
