Letterhead is the same in Word as it is in business stationary. It is the name, address, and contact information at the top of the page, usually just the first one.
In Word, that translates to a "header". To create one, open a document, then select "view" and "header and footer". A small portion of the page is then accesible. Type the information, and then click on the lower section of the page.
To make it only appear on page one, go the "File" then "Page setup". Check the box marked "Different first page", then close the page setup box.
Now you have letterhead.

Letterhead is the logo/address etc.. that you would see on a formal business letter. With Microsoft Word I would use the format headers option to place it on my document. That way it appears on every page without having to be added to each page.

Letterhead is the name for the information placed in a letter, or other document containing any information you want to be included in your final document.
Letterhead is usually placed in a header to keep it separate from the formatting in the body of the document. I use Autotext in word to insert pre-formatted text and graphics into the document. Autotext can be used for many automated insertions, too many to be described here. Go to the help area and learn how you can use it to your advantage.

You've accidentally put Word into Overtype mode. Pressing the Insert key is the usual way of getting into this -- and the easiest way of getting out again. If you have Word 2007, here's a way to turn off the darned Insert key forever: 1. Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window. 2. Click the Word Options button. 3. Click the Advanced item on the left-hand pane. 4. Uncheck the Use Insert Key To Control Overtype Mode checkbox. 5. Click OK. Hope that helps.
