Hi. We have a Sanyo TV we have had about a year now I guess. We just moved into a new apartment a little over a week ago, and when we went to hook up the TV to the cable, the little deal you screw the cable onto broke out of the TV. Now we are sitting around watching DVDs (which is connected through RCA cables) over and over again. I was wondering if there is a way to hook up some bunny ears or something to the TV through RCA cables so we can at least get one or two channels (or at least the local news channel). Anything to watch other than DVDs!!!!! Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I was thinking about using a VCR but wasn't sure if it would work.

You can use an external tuner to watch TV. Usually people will just hook their antenna to a VCR and then use it as a tuner. You can use RCA cables to send the signals from the VCR to your TV, but if both of them have s-video ports, using it for the video will usually give you a better picture. You only need the electronics in the VCR, it doesn't matter if the mechanical part works or not.

Starting in Jan 2008 the government is going to start giving out discount coupons for digital TV converter boxes. These act as external tuners for both the old analog and new digital channels. These will hook up to your TV the same way as a VCR would. Should be about $20 (after the coupon).

You can check your DVD player for an RF Connector (the little deal you screw the cable onto). If it has one you can watch your cable through the DVD player using the RCA cables. Or you can use a VCR/VCP that has an RCA output on it and do the same thing. Just hook the RF cable to your DVD player or VCR and run the RCA cables like you normally would. Hope this helps you out.

No you can't. The tuner is not hooked up to the RCA connector. You need to get the broken connector fixed.

OR... if you have a VCR, you can hook the cable to the VCR and use that to catch the TV channels.

easy answer. use a vcr. plug the cable into the vcr and use rca out to the tv. it will work great. . or you can use a cable box. that will work good too. either way the rca jacks offer alittle better picture than the reg coax cable hook up. so its all good. good luck

Yes you CAN use the Video output on a VCR....BUT

You might as well just RENT a cable box and get more for your money....

It only costs $5.00 a month for a box.
