Like most religions, the day-to-day stuff is pretty good. The "funny part" tends to be in the deeper documents. Of course, also with most religions if you actually pin point members about the deep stuff and ask "you actually believe that THIS happened?" then 95% of them will sidestep abit. Not much different than pretty much any religion you can name off the top of your head.

Some of their beliefs are pretty hilarious, especially the one's that you don't get to know about until you reach a high level within Scientology. Eg:
OT7-48
1. Find some plants, trees, etc., and communicate to them individually until you know they received your communication.
The first post on this: http://www.killermovies.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-358829-scientology-incredibly-stupid-yet-incredibly-genius.html page sums it up pretty well. I'll copy paste, but this info belongs to the origional poster:
"so here's the basic gist of thier beliefs. these dumb assholes believe that millions of years ago, before the dinos an intergalactic war was being waged. our Earth—called Teegeeack, then—was featured in a galaxy-wide federation oppressed by one Xenu (or Xemu), an evil titan. Faced with the problem of overpopulation, Xenu had gathered up the ne’er-do-wells from his empire and confined those individuals in terrestrial volcanoes, and utilized nuclear bombs to explode the latter (and the former). The spirits (“thetans”) of those formerly intact beings were then collected, imprisoned in frozen alcohol, and implanted into human beings. and these thetans are now the cuase of all human suffering....so all you have to do is run down to the nearest center and pay *** loads of money for auditing and they'll get rid of those pesky little buggers for ya.
no but it doesnt stop there, once you join up, you often have to cut ties from all your relatives, they also claim that once your educated enuff you can control these thetans on a few levels they dub operating thetans. they have OT1-OT9 i believe, but in order to advance thru the levels you have to donate more money...so the more you give the higher you can climb, and once you get to OT5, where tom cruise is, supposedly you can fly and have mastery over time and space...read ppls minds, and move objects mentally.....WOW WHERE DO I SIGN UP!"
Check out this website for more details, and be sure to look at the links in the sources section :)
http://www.xenu.net/
However, the danger they pose really is no joke, especially considering the number of deaths that have been attributed to scientology, as well as the financial problems that some of it's members have gotten into trying to 'reach the next level' by paying for the lectures that will supposedly make their life happier. If you don't visit the sites in the sources list or above, PLEASE visit these... they are memorial pages to those lost to scientology

Not so funny. Scientology is a cult started by Sci-Fi writer L. Ron Hubbard, who at one time was a follower of Aleister Crowley. They use a system called "auditing" on their members, which is really just hypnosis.

when actors and actresses are following this "religion" and joining up as if it is the new in club to be in then, that is where some might think it is a joke, the devil takes many forms science being one of them (i am a well educated person so don't think i am stupid or ignorant) but to create a "religion" based solely on science? what? where is the creator?

Some may argue it is disguising itself as not being a religion, but , in fact, uses all the components of a religion, i.e. a cult.

It's a "joke" as in it's a fraud, a scam, a swindle, a FAKE religion. NOTHING is funny about Scientology (except perhaps for Tom Cruise and his astounding cough-hopping skills). Scientology is dangerous, manipulative, greedy, brainwashing and vicious (not to mention totally ridiculous in it's practices and claims). The "Church" of Scientology REALLY does hurt people.
There are multitudes of people who have suffered tragic experiences during their involvement with Scientology. Read about them here:
http://www.lermanet.com/persecution/
http://www.whyaretheydead.net/krasel/
http://xenu.net/archive/personal_story/cheryl_s
Here are more "bad experiences" with the cult including an illegal plot to infiltrate the government, brainwashing techniques, mind control camps, attacks on critics, and DEATHS caused by Scientology doctrine and members:
● Operation Snow White – Under this official program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, & theft of documents in government offices. This program constituted the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history. Among the 11 prominent Scientologists convicted of this conspiracy was Mary Sue Hubbard, the wife of Scientology’s “prophet”.

http://en.allexperts.com/e/o/op/operation_snow_white.htm
● Operation Freakout - Their campaign of sabotage & violence against Paulette Cooper, the writer who published her research & findings on several cults, including Scientology. Scientology’s official plan: to frame Paulette, ruin her career & reputation & get her either incarcerated or locked up in psychiatric confinement.
The official plan: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Krasel/cooper/frk1.html
Her book: http://holysmoke.org/cos/books/scandal-of-scientology-cooper.pdf
● Fair Game - the Scientology policy detailing how the organization may confront & handle critics & perceived enemies. Here is a direct quote: "Enemies may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.”
http://www.xenu.net/archive/disk/fairgame.htm
http://www.planetkc.com/sloth/sci/Fair_game_ord.html
http://www.fairgamed.org/
● Physical & psychological punishment: Scientologists who "break the rules" while members of the "Sea Org" must subject themselves to the Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF), which includes regimes of harsh physical punishment, forced self-confessions, social isolation, hard labor and intensive ideological indoctrination.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~kspaink/cos/rpf/escape_2.htm
● Brainwashing & mind control: Scientology exerts control over its members by means of typical cult tactics, including but not limited to controlling information about internal doctrine & criticism of the organization, severely restricting social contact outside the cult (including the practice of “disconnecting” with any family who question the credibility & trustworthiness of the cult), creating an “us against them” mentality by villainizing a specific out-group (for Scientology, it’s psychiatrists), & claiming all those outside the cult are unenlightened.

● Violent Kidnapping - Lisa McPherson was a Scientologist, was involved in a car accident & resultantly became mentally unstable. She was kidnapped from the hospital by agents of Scientology, held against her will, refused proper psychiatric treatment & allowed to STARVE TO DEATH.
