Yes, they bought the property after the adult bookstore moved in, in a failed attempt to shut it down. It was really a foolish waste of money.

LMAO!!! As a child I went to a church, a very TALL church where the cross was almost 3 stories tall and made of hand polished oak with brass inlays. How many starving children could have been fed with the cost of that cross?
And why did it have to be so big? Is it 'holier' to have a big one? Is it a testosterone thing? You know, bigger is better?

it is funny how people always say "how many people could you feed with that money".
How much money do you PERSONALLY donate to fight hunger? - A dollar? two hundred? A thousand a year?
It was NOT build with YOUR money, so back off.
I know nothing about this story, but if just one life is changed because of that cross - money well spend (that one life will have impacts on generations to come - think about Billy Graham story and how two ushers found a spot for him in the church on the day he got saved - one life that changed millions).
It might not be wise in your eyes, but people in that area made a statement with this cross. A statement that probably will outlive adult store.

If they really believe porn is bad for families, they could have counseled families. Or helped workers there find other, better jobs. Or fed some starving people. Or SOMETHING.

Not as silly as the gold and diamond collars people buy for their dogs and cats. Do you ever wonder how many people they could have fed with that money?
If you're worried about starving kids, why don't you sell your house and car, buy cheaper ones, and give the difference to the kids? No, you won't do that. Its easier to sit on the sidelines and b*tch, isn't it.
