You might be losing the calories but also destroying the enamel on your teeth and damaging your throat and stomach. See my avatar? That is a artificial set of teeth. I have dental implants. Why? I destroyed my teeth from making myself vomit for 30 years with bulimia. It isn't worth it because it is a never ending cycle. You will never accomplish anything by making yourself vomit. You will never control your weight by this method. I finally gained control when I changed my eating habits. I now eat low carb and for 3 1/2 years I finally have control of how I eat instead of it controlling me.

First off, is she still pregnant? If she is, she NEEDS to be eating to feed her baby. Secondly, ask your friend how much she loves her teeth. When you eat and throw up, you bring up stomach acid, which can not only rot your teeth, but can cause severe damage (you can actually burn holes from the acid) to her, esophagus, etc. Third, while this may start out as wanting to look good for a senior picture, this is a serious disease that affects millions of people worldwide. For most people with this illness it's hell, and they cannot control this. It becomes more than a 'oh gotta lose a couple pounds', to becoming an illness. Your friend should not do this anyway, but she should NOT even be considering this if she is pregnant. She is/was obviously not ready to have a baby.

IF You are planning to do this, let me tell you that a day will
come when you will be very sorry. You have to digest the
food to get the calories. However if you eat it to throw it up, then there is no purpose to it at all except to ruin your body.
You need calories for strength, all the other nutrients from the
food to keep your heart , your kidneys...your entire body healthy. I have worked in Clinics and dealt with people who have almost died and some did from severe health problems.
Why be so concerned with these things instead of enjoying life right now while you can?

Some of them, yes, since calories are absorbed over time. Many nutrients and calories are absorbed after the food leaves your stomach and makes it's way into the intestines. So, it depends on how soon after the food is eaten that it is thrown up. However, if you are considering bulimea as a diet plan, don't. It's not worth ripping up your esophagus permanently, having your teeth turn yellow by losing the enamel on your teeth due to the acid, having your skin turn grayish and your hair turn limp due to lack of nutrients. How pretty is skinny then?

Yeah youre loosing most of em. But then you are loosing the nutrition and all the good things that you need to have in your body too. I seriously hope you arent thinking about doing this! Its not the way to go. If your worried about calories, then eat foods that are lowest in them and exercise some more of em off.

Yes. Nutrient absorption occurs in your intestines. If you vomit, you empty the contents of your stomach that haven't already made it to the small intestine.

Not just the calories, but all of the vitamins and minerals in your food that the body needs to survive.

Sounds to me like your making yourself throw up??? Don't go that route- it's not cool, and not good for your health. You probably don't lose the calories, but the acid that comes back up from your stomach will damage your throat and eat away at your teeth.

You are, but unfortunately if you continue throw up you will retain fluids and gain weight. Soon you won't be able to stop throwing up. Your hair will also fall out from lack of nutrition! Bulimia is not the way!
