specifically canon lenses. there are just so many lenses out there but i don't want to buy a new one without seeing some images taken with that lens and being able to read all about it. thanks!

I'll bet Canon has a brochure of all their lenses. It may even include sample photos taken with them.

You can probably find reviews of different Canon lenses at shutterbug.com. Just type in Canon 300mm or whatever lens you're interested in in the Search box.
