She did have faith and believe in God. She expressed it in her good works in spite of her "dark night of the soul."

I do not believe this! She once said she saw Jesus in every person she helped! It was because of Jesus that she was molded into the person she became! Her life long mission was to spread the love and kindness of Christ to those who had no hope! Leave the memory of this wonderful woman alone! Ask yourself, what have I done for humanity? What secularist or atheist has devoted themselves to helping those with no hope in society at the level this woman has? Anyone who bashes Mother Teresa has REAL problems and has too much time on their hands! When one does as much as she did, I do not know how anyone could bash her! Even the atheists should be singing her praises, if they had any morality at all! God bless her and her memory! May her selfless work go on! I am sure she is with Jesus right now!

Religion is a social phenomenon. The beliefs in religious dogmas are strenghten when people are in a group (either worshipping or being attacked) but they tend to weaken when a person is alone, confronting despair or lack of justice.
Mother Theresa probably felt overwhelmed by the task ahead of her and her faith waivered. It's neither a condemnation of her beliefs, nor a vindication of her later statement. It's just human nature. Religion is a coping mechanism for people,.little else.

You've misunderstood it. Mother Teresa DID have faith and belief in God, even though at times she was subject to doubt. Throughout her life she could not feel God's presence, and yet she soldiered on, doing his work. She prayed constantly, even though she couldn't see her prayers answered. She was subject to depression and despondency. Even Christ experienced this on the cross ("My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?")
Faith is not following God when it's obvious. Faith is following a God you believe is there but is hidden from you.
I think this makes Mother Teresa more of a Saint, as well as more human.

It is hard to believe in a loving God when you are continually in close contact with the world's suffering. But by continuing to give her heart to her fellow human beings, rather than trying to please an apparently capricious God, she showed that she understood the essence of spirituality. Most of the people who have never dreamed of questioning God's existence have either led very comfortable lives or are somewhat shallow. Every saint has to go through the "dark night of the soul."

Only Mother Teresa and God knows if she really believed in God. Anyway, I personally think she believed in God because she seemed like a religious person who wore modest clothing and lived to help the poor, she also visited places of worship and prayed. We can learn from her.

The Catholic Church is not about faith in God but in the papal edicts. A good Catholic does not have to even own a Bible and before Vatican 2 it Catholics were not even supposed to read the Bible! The Bible was only for Priests. but according to the Bible every believer is a Priest of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Probably because she was closer to the terrible suffering this world has to offer than most of us could even imagine. I think working with the most desperately poor of the world your whole life would shake even the strongest faith.

From what I read, this totally misrepresents what she wrote. She was looking at the suffering around her and was questioning some things about God. A natural response when one is confused about knowing the perfection of God and yet being frustrated in every day life.
From what I could see, this woman was a doer of the word of God, start to finish, even with her questions.

She saw no evidence of one for a long time...
Perhaps he saw the need to hold out on her and "test her faith."
She describes a spiritual experience as a child, then nothing but silence through her many years of service.

Because she finally woke up and realized after spending her entire life helping the sick and homeless that God is a scam. Why would God allow such famine and disease to thrive amongst his own children? She probably grew tired of fighting an uphill battle ALONE! Where was God when she was doing his work? Where was his helping hand thru it all? Let me guess, it was when she died, right? She got to meet the all mighty God. And then what?
The poor woman did things for people that he either couldn't do (because he doesn't exist), or he just didn't feel like helping her with. Either way, I want no part of that!
