I often have a dream that I have to sit exams for subjects I have not been studying for many years - like my GCSE's.

It fills me with dread because I left school many years ago and obviously haven't a clue about anything that is going to be asked. I never actually get into the exam room . . .

why do I have this dream?

Ooh I'm getting into this dream thing now:

Exam

To dream that you are taking an exam, signifies insecurities, fear of not meeting others' expectations, and fear of failure.

I wish I could give you a more solid answer based on psychology or something but I have only this to say. I suffer from the same freakin thing. School anxiety that seems so real that when I wake up I'm scared silly. I always dream that I won't graduate and I wake up and have to convince myself that I did graduate. For my own self I think I had a lot of "loose ends" I never resolved at school so I go back and try to "complete" them. I want to know more but my waking rational self knows I can't go back to school or I'm not likely to . However my unconscious dreaming self grabs at school memories as a logical source for gaps in learning. Just a very "uneducated" guess.
