Do you feel that God is closer to you when you belief that the universe was created by God only 6000 years ago instead of believing that earth was created billions years ago ?

I'm a Christian, and have never believed such a thing, so I'd have to say "no" to that one. I think that you'll find that the "young Earth" Creationist crowd is a relative minority within Christianity. It's just that, like many of their Fundamentalist cohorts, they happen to be a rather vocal minority.
