I think atheism, added with real education would make for a much better community.

In fact you don't really have to wonder. Just look at the Netherlands or Australia. Both countries have a higher percentage of secular, educated people than most countries in the world. It is no coincidence that they also have lower crime rates and happier people than the highly religious countries in the world.

Claiming that it would lead to communism is not at all true. There are many atheists that defend freedom, and communist countries rely on a lack of education to remain intact.

If societies had no focal history of religion then we would probably not have obtained anything further than living as animals. Religion and worship gathered humans together for comfort as much as the need to survive. Our earliest ancestors, while widely dispersed, all were drawn to mysticism and some sort of shamanism...doesn't this lend to the idea that man was wired toward a higher power?

Atheism is such a narrow concept (lack of belief in God(s)) that one cannot derive humanity from it alone.

However atheists have a moral side, and many including the Humanists, are, well HUMANE.

Perhaps more so than the religionists, because they do not incorporate non-human people (Gods) into their moral 'equations'.

Long live the Humanists.

as opposed to do what i say cause i said so......

Many of the atheists i know have a way of life devoted to logic, cause and effect, and thoughtfulness.....

More of the religious people i know use religion as a clique with supposed benefits of being a member, aside from supernatural benefits, declaring ones self an atheist keeps you from taking public office in 4 states, and could be a form of social suicide....

That would be might hard to do. Given that atheism is a construct of humanity. For humanity to be founded on it would be circular.

It would be impossible. No matter what you do in life there will always be people segergating themselves to believe in one thing. But it's nice to dream.

It couldn't possibly be worse.

And the surest sign it would be better? Find two atheists who disagree about atheism. Go on, I dare you.

People would still feel the need to invent gods, I'm sure.
