THE LAW SHOULD BE THE SAME IN ALL STATES.
YOU DON'T NEED A CONTACT SIGNED THAT STATES "AS-IS" BUT IT IS NICE TO HAVE.
IF AN INDIVIDUAL SELLS A VEHICLE IT IS CONSIDERED "AS-IS" AND THAT'S IT.
ALSO ANY VEHICLE THAT IS 10 YEARS OLD OR OLDER OR HAS OVER 100,000 MILES ON IT IS CONSIDERED "AS-IS".
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE ANYTHING BACK, THEY CAN TAKE YOU TO COURT AND YOU WILL WIN, UNLESS YOU WILLING KNEW OR SAID ANYTHING TO THEM ABOUT SOMETHING ON THIS VEHICLE THAT TURNED OUT NOT TO BE THE TRUTH.

Tell them, that before you sold the car you stated that it was as is. just because you sold it to the with out a bill of sale then that is honestly there problem because they didn't ask for one and that if they have a problem with it, theres nothing that you can do, they should have completely checked out the car before handing you the money. Now if you knew there was something wrong with it and neglected to tell them that there was issues than i think you should work with them. My father has been selling cars for years and has never since i remember had someone come back. Just simply explain that there is nothing you can do about it and that you thought they knew it was a as-is sale and there are no refunds. If its not a big mechanical problems and you know about cars, maybe you can look at it for them. Or tell them to buy the parts and you can fix it. other than that tell them they are out on this one.

I checked with a few people and once they have the title and have paid you the cash its a done deal. They cannot get there money back. Sorry they got screwed but hey, sometimes thats the way life goes. Hope this helps ya!

in case you had given him permission, he nonetheless ought to no longer have offered it without your signature, assuming he wasn't additionally on the identify with you. approximately all you're able to do if he won't cooperate and supply you the money a minimum of, is have him arrested for automobile theft and forgery. you choose to try this, and press costs? if so, touch the police the place he's, and communicate over with them approximately what befell. and are available to a decision which you choose, the automobile or the money and make that sparkling interior the commencing up. this is rather useful to touch the ex one greater time and tell him except you have the money in hand in 3 days you will report it to the government, and notice what he's keen to do then. sturdy success in spite of you come to a decision.

I guess it depends on what type of person you are. Also, do you believe in "Karma"? Okay, lets say you don't. Do you believe that if you do good deeds you are a good person?
Do you think those who deceive or betray there own kind (humans) that good will be returned? Do you believe in having the last laugh or making another person laugh?
I say, if you ever want to "feel able" enough to be trusted or show trust, or even have a Liable statement , maybe even a good heart... Then I would suggest treating people like you want to be treated.....BAH-zam!

If you informed him of any defect. If you let them drive the car. If they accepted to offer. It's their car. Any used car sold by an individual is assumed sold as is.
I think you've done all you could. It sux being the bad guy but they bought it, it's their problem now.

Tell them that if they fix the problem you will refund them.
The car was running fine while you had it - now they broke it and want you to fix it???
Simple answer to this is telling them to call the cops - then they will realise they have a broken car, and you are a private seller -
THEY GET NOTHING

No, You do not have to give them anything. When a car is sold private, under the law, it is "AS IS" unless you gave them a written warranty. Once you transfer the title, it is their vehicle. Even if they take you to court, you will win.
Don't sweat it. Tell them to pound sand.

Once you sell the car it's their problem, not yours.
They should learn from the experience and either buy new or if they can't afford it get a used car checked out properly.
