I do not need to "believe" anything. Based upon the wealth of credible evidence; clearly, a scientific explanation of how the universe was formed and how life arose on this planet is the most reasonable and has the highest probability to be accurate.
Likewise, given the simplistic and primitive nature of most religious beliefs, there is almost no probability that they accurately explain and/or reflect reality. And, the simple fact is, there is no credible evidence to support their suppositions.

I believe we're here because the universe has the proper physical constants to allow the conditions for life to evolve. In other words, the scientific reason as to why we're here. I believe this because I'm a scientist and require evidence to convince me of an argument. Religous arguments by definition require faith rather than scientific evidence.

You are comparing apples and oranges. They can coexist. In fact many persons of the cloth are also scientists.
Science explains the how, religion attempts to address the why.
The literal translation of the word religion is "to search for the source." We then discern between a Good reason for existing and an Evil reason by calling them God and Devil.
Why am I here? To bear witness to a great choice: "Live in harmony or die."

The scientific reasons - it has the evidence to back it up. I wouldn't condemn anyone for their religious beliefs but for me it doesn't cut it.

Ill hit you with this, ready? We were colonizers of this planet from another world. An our civilization , scientific knowledge was lost and we been climbing back ever seance.
Why did this happen? Because of a great planet change of some sort.

Scientific got no fact the first man they discovery turn out be a pig head when they said man come from ape it turn out man here same time as ape and that he didn't walk bend over i could name 25 mistake science make

To me science explains "how" while religion tries to explain "why".
