because our government is led by a bunch of hypocrites.... they would rather help support ppl on the other side of the world than shell out a few extra dollars to get american made quality. they dont really seem to care about the fact that when it says "made in china" that means that americans have taken a loss. and it also means that the product will last a couple days because it is so cheaply made,

Following along with the cheap labor and slavery concepts are the fact that the USA is on a "greed" spiral. No matter what the item is everyone involved in the manufacture, distribution and sales must have a "mark up in price". The greed comes into the formula when each and every party involved deems they need a greater portion of the profits. Of course no one can get along with less, thus each person wants more then the other identity in the formula. To assist in this demand circle is the advertising community, unless you have the latest model of what ever they are pushing, you have fallen behind your neighbor in positions. For example the auto industry and the new years models, they are proclaimed to be better then the previous example. However they accomplish the same thing an "Amish" horse and buggy does.
Lest we forget the Government by the people and for the people....just stop and consider the horrendous wages and benefits politicians receive even after just a single term in office. Of course the government has it's own many spigots to the nations economical wealth.
Make it in China so we can continue to enjoy the splendor of positions.

Since the Chinese accepted capitalism their economy has been booming and business growing and investment in R&D and production has soared.
However the average Chinaperson is still quite poor, and there are a lot of them, so the companies do not have to pay high wages. Much competition for low paid jobs in a nutshell.
The companies can therefore produce more, and at a lower cost, passing the saving on to the buyer while still selling at a good profit margin.
The consequence of these things is that the proportion of Chinese goods in the international market has increased greatly, and now 'everything' is Chinese.
In the future, when living standards in China increase, and people are expecting higher wages, and also the yen becomes stronger in relation to other currencies, wages in China will go up and production costs will increase, and also one will be able to buy fewer Chinese goods for the dollar or pound (see strength of yen).
When that happens, exports from other countries will become more affordable in comparison, and China will have less of a share of the market as a result.

Everything I buy was made in China
Except for one or two things from Japan
My sweatsuits and my jeans
Were assembled in the Phillipines
From Turkish cloth distressed in Pakistan
It's obvious that the cost of all that shipping
Still doesn't match the cost of making it here
So we roar ten thousand mile across the ocean and back
So I can have a cocktail napkin with my beer
You'd think there'd still be people, say in Utah
Whose love of working with their hands has still remained
Or some, say in Vermont
Who haven't yet got all they want
And whose deep faith in the lottery has waned
I still don't understand the economics
Still it's nice to sit at home and look about
And think that all these things of worth
Came here from half-way 'round the earth
To rest awhile before I throw them out.
I'm sure there must be ranchers in Nevada
Who'd love to grow bananas on their range
Certainly some miners in Virginia
Who might enjoy assembling sweat suits for a change
My American flag was made in Sri Lanka
Our baseballs come from Haiti, for heaven's sake
I'd love to buy American, I would, and I will
As soon as I find something that we make

I though everything was made in Taiwan? As for China It is because that have enslaved people working of 50 cents an hour. Making cheap products for America to fob off in Dollar stores. The goal is to make money by screwing over Chinese and American people and everyone else. By Mega Corporations then pin the blame on Taiwan.

because bush brokered a deal w/ china so they would lend us money to finance the war, we would further our trade with them. At this point China owns us so we're essentially beholden to them. Look at the link below, imports from china have doubled in the last 5 years.
http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c5700.html#2007
"China's trade surplus was responsible for 42.6% of the United States' total, non-oil trade deficit. This is by far the United States' most imbalanced trading relationship. Unless and until China revalues (raises) the yuan and eliminates these other trade distortions, the U.S. trade deficit and job losses will continue to grow rapidly in the future."

Not to be mean, but why is this question in religion and spirituality? Anyway, look at the huge population in China, it makes sense that a lot more stuff would come from there, plus labor is cheaper, and given the number of recalls lately, standards are more lax, so it's easier to mass produce stuff.

Because stockholders, who want to earn the maximum on their investments while spending the barest minimum on production, send their products to be built and contsructed in China because the most inferior, cheapest materials are used (lead paint, for example) as well as the fastest, most whipped cheap labour, (the poorest Chinese people).
They (stockholders) don't CARE if our children play with dangerous lead covered toys, or beady little parts that break off and go into tiny mouths and they don't want products to cost one thin penny more than they have to in order to pass safety regulations. Stockholders are the new hated lawyers; squeezing blood out of every penny they can take out of your pocket
There's a special trailer park in Hell for stockholders! LOL

That's a good question, like when I went to Puerto Rico, even gifts that were supposedly made there had the China sticker on the bottom. People work for cheap over there, and Im sure there's a ton of children in sweatshops supplying the goods, by the way, a lot of their toys have lead in them, WTF!
