I have a great little kitten with a wonderful personality, but I'm trying to figure out if this is just because she didn't feel well or out of spite.

Yesterday I took her to get her 2nd distemper shot and her rabies shot and today she was very lethargic, so I called the vet and he said I should bring her in. So I brouh=ght her in and she was pretty good until it was time for her temp to get taken, at which point she growled and yowled and made a fuss the likes of which I'd never seen from her (although I can't blame her.. I wouldn't like that either!) Anyway, it was determined that she was having a reaction to the distemper shot and she got a shot of something that started with a "D" and we went home.

So half way home, the groggy little thing climbed onto my lap and piddled.

While I would like to believe that she did this to avoid getting piddle on my new car, I suspect that isn't the case. Any ideas?

sara: to piddle, verb. To urinate. ;-)

Sara, I don't need to "learn to spell." Yes, it means the same as "pee," but it's a different word. I could have said "piddle," "pee," "urinate," or "take a leak" oe "whiz" and it would all mean the same thing.

she is a baby and is sick because of her reaction to her shots..probably running a slight fever and as you say..groggy..so it is normal. she is not mad at you it is just because she is not feeling well right now. I am sure that when she feels better she won't have any more piddle accidents..as for why she climbed on your lap first..she is sick and wanted comforting from you, you are her mum :o)

Small kittens don't do that kind of stuff out of spite. And she doesn't care about your car either, she doesn't know what a car is. Her reaction at the vet's is normal.

Stop thinking your kitten is a human.

Durtydeuce gave you an excellent and correct answer.

My advice is never to let you vet give young cats 2 shots at once, this is always a risk especially since they can have a bad reaction to one or both. The distemper is a shock to their immune system.

how old is she? my vet doesn't like to do rabies until the third distemper and at 17 weeks?

maybe she's just sick from the needle, and upset with everything that went on.

maybe she's a little numb in that area because of the thermometer.. maybe didn't realize? If you said she was groggy, she probably didn't know what was going on and had no control of the matter.

I saw a little guy waking up from getting neutered, who was also extremely groggy, and he ended up peeing all over the cats underneath him.. no control.

i'd just keep an eye on her, and make sure everything is good!

It could have just been a reaction to all the shots - I don't really think it was vengeful if she was lethargic.. she may just be relaxed by you and the relaxation triggered... the release.
When my dog was a puppy, she piddled on my chest once on the couch.
Pretty hilarious in retrospect but I wasn't very amused at the time.

She might have only been a little out of sorts from getting shots. Please remember, she's just a baby. Would you have been angry is she piddled on the car seat? Does she use a litter box? if she's good at home, what happened in the car is no big deal.

You did mention she was groggy, and she's still a baby. It was probably a stressfull event for her, and wasn't feeling well, so she probably just let it go. Not out of revenge necessaraly, but just it was too much and she just had to let it out.

A sick human baby will do the same thing (sometimes even if potty trained).

Well it isn't a big deal(except for your clothes). I adopted a kitten from under a trailor while visiting my aunt;s house and she peed on me a few times. She is just young.

The cat didn't do it out of spite. Animal's can't grasp a concept such as spite. It probably wasn't feeling good.

Cats are actually pretty vengeful. I've had cats pee in my shoes when they were mad at me!
