Morals and Ethics?

Can anyone explain to me what morals and ethics are, and explain the difference to me?

The ethical man knows the right thing to do. The moral man actually does it.

Ethics doesn't include the key ingredient of moral authority. As an ethical person, I understand the right thing to do, but if I will have to make a sacrifice to do it, why should I?

It's the right answer to the "why should I?" question that makes an ethical person a moral one. What moral obligation do I have to do the right thing? For most people, it is a feeling. Maybe a feeling of sympathy or pity but what moral obligation do I owe to a feeling?

The only moral authority that one is obligated to obey, I think, is God.

Ethics is the philosophy of morals, or the study of why a moral system is better or worse than another.

People often use ethics to describe a set of "situational" morals like business ethics or professional ethics. In these cases it means what is right and wrong in that context. Often these ethics are written down.

Morality is a term used for what people determine what is right and wrong. Many people assume that their morality is the only type or valid morality. For instance many people assume that monogamy is the only valid moral choice however, many societies accept polygamy as a valid choice and it works well.

Ethics are more like a guideline that everyone agrees on or to. Morals are more personal that you decide to follow and live by.

Morals are what you personally believe is right.Ethics are still like morals,however,ethics are set rules. Such as societies ethics, or business ethics.

Morals are what my priest says I lack, now that I think about it he says I lack ethics too. I just laugh at him and spit on him anyway. Hope that helped.
