Yes. I think you hit the nail on the head.
The fundamentalists that stand out in my mind here in R&S come on with a lot more arrogance and condemnation than love. (See the one right below mine.)
This turns ME off and I'm a Christian. I can imagine what it does to people who are waivering or who don't believe in God.

I know that I come on strong sometimes, but sometimes you just need to get your point across, because if you sugar coat things, sometimes people take that as you accept what they are saying as truth. As a Christian, I do have a deep compassion for people. If someone is sincere in their question, or if someone is asking for help, I truly, truly want to help them, and I have a genuine love for them. I know that they are lost souls, and I want to help them. The one thing that angers me is the "tolerance" thing. It's like we, as Christians, should worry more about hurting someone's feelings rather than helping someone escape from eternal torture. I feel that we are expected to accept others ideals, and COMPROMISE OUR OWN! This isn't right. I feel that Christians have become like "mush" when it comes to God's word, and defending it. I don't think there's anything wrong with defending God's word, especially when you know that it is being attacked.
If I feel that an atheist is actually interested in my answer, that is ok, and I am happy to answer it, but a lot of them come on here just to have fun bashing our Lord.
Do you think we should compromise God's Word to make others happy? I don't. I'm not a "compromising Christian" (if there could be such a thing) God Bless

Never said I was a "good" Christian. If I was perfect I wouldn't need God, I would be God. I'm not going to pretend to be caring either, if something bugs me I'm gonna let you know. If you pretend to be nice or sugar coat, that's the same as deciet in my eyes.
I think you answered your own question in your additional details rant. Nice example of not being able to handle yourself as God would want . I'm an Atheist now, you big meanne.
Keep gloating, glad you made your point!!! Wow, three exclamations you used, you are a winner in the battle of good and evil.
Atheist think of Christians in a negative way because of thinking like this "My point has been made!!!" and then you feel good about yourself as a Christian and believe you have won some sort of battle in God's name.
"You can speak what is on your mind and heart but it is how you say it.". How can you possibly make that statement? That staement to me would suggest "sugar-coating" something.
I read a few of your other answers and I liked them. Heck, I thought they were well thought out and insightful. You threw me with this one.
Maybe I read it wrong or I'm just in a bad mood from all the stupidity I have subjected myself to earlier in Yahoo Answers. I'm guessing I'm taking it wrong and if so I apoligize, if not, it did make me think for a few.
I can be e-mailed and IM'd, I run from nothing.

Just one thing. There are always those who come in here posing as Christians who are no more Christians than the devil, and come just to put a bad light on Christians. They are called trolls in here.
I am sure there are some immature Christians who are either new to the faith or have never been taught right or who just can't receive instruction, but I believe they are very few in number in spite of what anyone would choose to believe to the contrary.
There are times when a strong answer needs to be given to those who come just to argue and insult others whether they are Christian or not. It takes a great deal of discernment to know who is who, and in the end only God will know who is playing games and who is sincere.

You are right! I will confess sometimes I do put my foot in my mouth. I am imperfect and now that I am taking Bible Studies, hopefully I will get wiser by the day with the help of the Holy Spirit. In fact yesterday this guy was blaming the women for the trouble of sins we are in today and I typed in that "so&so is dysfunctional." A lot of us Christians do react on impulse at the stir of the moment. I am guilty! If I hurt anyone's feelings out there please forgive me. If you don't like my answer e-mail me and tell me in a polite way why I offended you. Sometimes I get really nasty e-mails with a lot of profanities. Not God Approval you guys, gotta curb our anger. Thank you Simple Serenity.
P.S.
Do you think atheist really care? There are the ones that are hard to digest; you know like we got the feeling to vomit out their insults and put downs. Lord have mercy!

I wholeheartedly agree that we should act in "love". But, some so-called "questions" from non-believers are traps and rants. Just because the answer from a Christian is direct, or answered in accordance with the attitude of the question, doesn't make it wrong. Being a Christian doesn't imply we can't vehemently defend our position. I do agree that how we do it says much about us, though. I for one will work on my cynicism and sarcasm.

To be honest, I'm often thinking that the more outrageous and belligerent "Christians" on here are shams developed by a person or persons whom wish to shed a bad light upon Christianity....I know this is truth in only one pair of such persons, but, since then, even though they are no longer here, I wonder if they are doing same under diff names or if others considered it a "good" thing and took up where they left off. Hard knowing since so many accts are "PRIVATE" and we cannot look at their other questions, answers, or network.
Peace be with you :)
***As others have stated, none of us are perfect, AND, Atheists will not often like our answers regardless of what is said.

A Christian is wrong no matter how they would answer any Q about God or the son Jesus.
So why bother until they are ready. Strong answers or "trying to convince" answers doesn't matter.
Atheist willingly believe a lie1.
There is no God.
Atheist willingly believe a lie2.
There is no Devil.
Oh Satan is good to get them to fall for these two thoughts and he just sits back and laughs.

You are right, that we are suppose to set an example. But even Christians make mistakes,we are not perfect people. That is why we must repent and are suppose to make things right with others. We are still in this world, and no one person is perfect. That's why Jesus died for us.You should know by now that many people claim to be a christian, but they are not!!All we can worry about is our walk with the LORD.Keep in mind also that we live in an evil world.Read Jer. 17:10,it says,"I,the Lord, search the heart,I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds."

Yes indeed we are!
We must always think before we "type" ( in this case lol)
And we should always remember that our speech should come with gentleness and love, but TRUTHFUL at the same time. We should not sugar coat what the word of God says-- just because we want someone to like us. That is not what we are here for. We are here to share the truth of God in LOVE.
Amen!

Serenity,
I believe you are very much right in what you are saying. It is most difficult for some Christians to see though. I am rather a Fundamentalist at heart but I do NOT attempt to be too pushy with those who do not want to hear of our FATHER. Have a wonderful week!
Thank YOU,
