How come Christianity is the only religion that ever gets attacked?

Even Islam doesn't get this much crap from people!

What about buddism? Isn't the main concept of Buddism to live your life free of any desire or material things? And yet so many celebrities, like Harrison Ford, are buddists.....you really think those celebrities are living a humble and meager lifestyle? Every religion has so many contradictions, every religion may seem stupid to someone else, but Christianity gets attacked most often? I am proud to call myself a Christian, I don't bother anyone with my beliefs, I live my life in a free country, don't force my understandings onto anybody and yet people can get so offensive....it's like people look for reasons to attack another group simply because they don't share similar views....I actually don't think its even about God or religion, it's the human nature of trying to prove to someone that "I am right and you are wrong!".

Many of you are saying that Christianity has been the cause of violence in history...yes unfortunately perhaps that is true...but it is not true that if Christianity didn't exist then violence would not exist either - in modern days though, I don't know a single Christian who woul support a murder for ANY reason, most killings that occur today are becuase of people being trully demented in the mind, it has nothing to do w/ religion. Maybe Christians persecuted in the past, but from studying history I see that Christians were persecuted first by others before they ever persecuted anyone else.

Ok, I did not mean that Christianity is the ONLY religion to get persecuted, I am sorry that I phrased my question that way...I meant it is the main one, and yes I am talking about the U.S., I am not talking about India or any other countries... And in reference to Islam - they are getting attacked only becuase of 9/11 and becuase they actually go as far as killing others today - I don't remember any Christians strapping a bomb to themselves and killing thousands of people.... Once again, I want to make the point that I do not know any Christian that would ever murder... and yet we get slammed. What about the atheists that DO kill, they are OK as long as they don't force their beliefs onto others right?

The people that attack Christians and the Christian faith know that if they even consider Christianity to be a viable religion, they would have to admit there is a God. Not just a god (lower g), but a one true God. They would have to do what this God told them to do. They don't want that. They want to run their own lives.

It you look around you will notice what that unbelief of theirs is getting them. Children having children. Children without fathers to raise them. Boys that grow up and wind up in prison because of no father support at home to teach them how to act properly. (That doesn't mean that every father would be a good influence, but it does mean that there would be less boys in prison). Girls getting pregnant because they are looking for that special feeling that they didn't get by not growing up with a father around. The feeling of being loved by a male figure, of being protected. (That doesn't mean that every father would be a good influence, but it does mean that there would be less girls getting pregnant when they are only 16, 15,14, 13 or 12. This is very sad).

Christians will always be the target of murder because they are taught to share their religion but not to force it on others and to turn the other cheek when attacked. Whether Katrina or anybody wants to admit it or not, Christians are killed on a daily basis all over the world just because they are Christians. In countries in the middle east, people are killed because they are Christian, PERIOD! In China, Christians are put in prison and left to die. Etc., etc., etc..

Here in the United States, founded by Christians (Yes, it was taken from the natives of which I am one), special treatment is given to all faiths but Christianity.

We do have something to look forword to. When Jesus comes to take us away, we will not have to put up with it anymore. They will have to find somebody else to pick on.

While it is true that Christianity does take a beating, many other religions get attacked as well. You're not the only victim. I can probably say that because there's so many "fanatics" and so-called "bible thumpers" that that's a reason why they get attacked. However, look and paganism. Wiccans, which many do consider a religion, gets attacked all the time with terrible stererotypes that are quite ridiculous because people are misinformed. Muslims have been under a lot of heat because of the whole 9-11 thing. Jews were persecuted during the Holocaust. Scientology gets a lot of flack because of their beliefs (admittedly, some of them sound a little...odd). Kabbalism (I'm positive I spelled that wrong) gets looked down upon because it was seen as a fad by many. However, I understand the reason why. So many people jumped onto that without really looking into it and what it really is about.
I understand your frustration, but understand the frustration of others as well.

It isn"t just Christians. But the ones that are knocking it or any other religion --they are attacking those that actually have a belief in something and are committed to it. I am not talking about those that SAY they are Christian,Buddhist,Islam--I am talking about those that actually believe & live that life style.
They are afriad of this type of person. Think of the extreme muslims--the terrorist. I disagree with the Koran but these people are committed and are scarey

Where were you all this time ? Judaism takes quite a beating too . The reason Christianity gets hit hard is because it's Christians who ask stupid questions in order to bash Atheists.
I have yet to see a Buddhist bash an Atheist . There is a lot of bashing of Christianity by Muslims ,though . They're trying to spread their bullxxxx all over the world , so the Jews and Christians get hit pretty hard .

You're kidding, right?? Christianity only gets attacked in the US because it's a very Christian country. Go to any other country in the world with a different primary religion, and you'll see them getting attacked. Look at Burma and the Buddhists being attacked there, Darfur, the middle east, you name it.

You're biased and see only the US side of things. But look at any other country with a majority religion and it's the same thing there.

What are you talking about? Islam is always bashed every single day. Just look at the entire American media, I always see them bashing Islam quite often. People want to kill us and they don't want us in their countries. Anyway, yes I agree with you, Christianity seems to be bashed a lot on Yahoo! answers by a few members of a certain group (I won't mention what group) *cough* anyway there are those that love and those that hate. Religion is like marmite, love it or hate it. I have to say I love it.

Well, let`s see..............Catholics consider any sect of Christianity other than theirs to be a "Heresy", and history shows they have killed and tortured anyone who gets in their way.

Cromwell and his army killed every Cathholic they could find, King Henry burnt Churches and Monks.

And as far as "attacks" go, you are confusing "questions" with "attacks"-as we all have seen here, and in real life, most Christians have NO answers to ANY questions other than to repeat dogma.

The Pope, Bishops, Cardinals wear Gold, Gems, have treasure vaults, palaces, kneel before Golden statues, and force worshipers to pay for the expenses of the Church.........now, not ALL Christians are hypocrites, but the ones that are seem to howl the loudest.

I`m sure YOU give everything you own to the poor on a regular basis.........so, do you think other Religions are wrong, and yours is the only one that is "right"?

Have you ever heard the expression "It's the spouting whale that get's harpooned?"

Christianity gets ridiculed because christians keep posting their preposterous beliefs here... and thus making them available to be ridiculed. It's really as simple as that.

When Moslems do that, they get ridiculed, too... but they do it about 1,000 times less frequently than christians... so, when they get harpooned, far fewer people notice it.

Besides christians and moslems, there isn't anybody else asserting that they know the ultimate 'truth' of existence and reality... and that we'll suffer eternal torment if we don't 'conform'. If you stop to think about it, you will realize that Christians are very much like the Borg, on Star Trek Next Generation: "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." I would not be surprised to learn that thoughts of Christianity provided the 'creative spark' for the Borg concept.

It's normal... you're a Christian.

Muslims think that only Islam gets attacked, JWs are sure that they're the only ones persecuted, and the Mormons have a similar persecution as well.

Then, of course, the atheists even claim persecution as well.
