Does that phrase seem offensive to you? I am Faithful follower of Jesus, but when I heard this for the first time the other day, I couldn't help laughing and laughing. The church really was over the top. It seems that money could've been better spent on their missionary work or something.

We drove by a church at night. From the freeway, you could see it all lit up with spotlights framing it. In the front were 3 large free standing crosses all about 8 to 10 feet high. The population of the town it was in was only about 40,000 people, so it really stood out. My husband pointed to it and said, "Six Flags over Jesus"

EDIT. The crosses were 8-10 STORIES high, not "feet." Oops! :)

We stated as the Jesus competition at our close by 6 flags that.... by way of the way, what's up with that? My pal's fiance is the county sheriff close to suggested entertainment park and he says their police calls TREBLE throughout the time of the Jesus weekend thingy.... and not in basic terms greater human beings calling, he's had 2 rapes and a homicide for the duration of those weekends, and that's some thing he gets perchance as quickly as each 5-6 years the place he's....

LOL! I love it!

It reminds me of a church in a very poor area where I used to live. They had received a donation of a large statue of Jesus and people got all up in arms saying that it was ostentatious etc. (it was, but it was donated and most members of the church liked it, I think.) Anyway, because of the way his arms were held up, it became known as "Touchdown Jesus." I'm not sure if it was meant to be offensive or not, but I thought it was hysterical.

You HAD to been driving past Bellvue Baptist church in Memphis TN. We used to live near there. We called them the Crosses of Jersalum. I always wanted to see how much those damn things cost and put a sign up that said X Amount of children could have been fed with the money used to buy these crosses.
That church makes me ill.

I'm a Christian too - that's pretty hilarious! I went to a Chruch once that was as big as an airport and had 2 lobbies and each of the parking lots was named after the fruits of the spirit instead of you know like the 7 dwarves at disneyland lol.

I like when you see an ad that says "Jesus Saves." I always wonder how much of a discount Jesus gets. They'll never tell me at the store though. All I get is that sour look. I don't why?

Never heard this before but I like it. Commonly I hear huge church complexes referred to as mega churches.

It's SUPPOSED to seem offensive.

The wretched excesses of the church are offensive.

The fact that these charlatans bilk desperate and vulnerable people out of their hard-earned money to line their own pockets should be offensive to you.

Id rather see the money spent on themselves than on shoving Jesus down the throats of others.

It makes the point, doesn't it? It certainly doesn't seem any more offensive than the palacial church.

Why would a church need a starbucks or gift shop? If that's not a swindle...
