It's like. . .a crisp, subtle fruit flavor that is unique. It's quite nice and mixes very well with other fruit. It's white and round, larger than a grape, maybe strawberry sized. It's worth a try if you have them available.

You do mean longans. It is sweet and juicy, with a white transparent to translucent flesh. The good ones are very sweet alright. You can get them in cans in Asian markets almost anywhere around the world.

It has a brown thin skin and a black hard seed.

There is another Chinese fruit called luo han. Completely different from longan.

They're sweet and white. There's a brown shell on the outside and a black, round seed in the middle. They taste a lot better cold.
