If you are a US Citizen then you do, as of January 23, 2007, need a passport to travel via air to (or more importantly to return to the US from) any of the Caribbean Islands which are not US territories. This includes the Bahamas.
Right now, and until September 30, there is a moratorium on this for those who have applied for their passports. But you need proof that you have applied for a passport.
As of some point between January 1, 2008 and June 2008, this restriction will also apply to land and sea travel (including all cruises). This is part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
Note that some cruise lines require a passport anyway, or at the very least can be a hassle if you don't have one, so it is a good idea to get one. Do check with your travel agent as to your cruise line's policy in this regard.

because Mexico would not require a passport from a US Citizen to pass into the rustic at modern the respond is not any. the U. S. branch of place of delivery secure practices demands guy or woman getting into the U. S. by utilising Land or Sea to have a valid government issued image id and an legitimate delivery certificates for those 19 and older. those 18 and youthful, like your self, are required in basic terms to have a valid delivery certificates inspite of the reality that in case you have a sort of image id that is a stable theory to hold it. The cruise strains will save on with the U. S. government policies even nonetheless in case you want to verify you may touch the cruise line at as quickly as or communicate on your shuttle agent. they're going to provide you the standards for the cruise you're going on. If, for some reason even nonetheless, you wind up having to fly you will require a passport. whether that is plausible so you might get a passport, you have a lot of time, i want to propose getting one because of the fact it is going to simplify shuttle now and could be required for all shuttle as of June a million, 2009 based upon modern time limits. powerful June a million, 2009 in basic terms a passport, passport card, NEXUS card, or superior motive force's license would be perfect id for any style of pass border shuttle. A passport is needed for all air shuttle.

You do NOT currently need a passport to travel by SEA to the Caribbean. See website below for official State Dep't info. Read the section that starts out, "JUNE 20, 2007 U.S. GOVERNMENT DELAYS..." Read all the rest of the page. Now, that takes care of the GOVERNMENT requirement, BUT, some cruise lines have their wn requirementsand insist that their passengers have passports. So, the best thing to do is CALL your cruise line ans ask. have a great trip.

Yes. The rules are changing though because of the backlog of passport applications.
Check ALL of your travel arrangements and ask if you need a passport, airlines, cruise ship, etc....

Officially not until 2009. What you will need instead is your actual birth certificate. Also, if you have changed your name through marriage you will need your marriage liscense showing this change. It is a lot easier and quicker if you have you passport, but no you dont NEED it yet. Enjoy!
