Neither are lies. Physics is man's best attempt to explain life but it really only shows probabilities, not exact concrete answers. The human mind is only capable of understanding so much. And in reference to the "goat herders": career does not define a man. A physicist can become a goat herder just as easily as a goat herder can go to school to become a physicist. I used to think as you do as well but have changed my way of thinking about the world and the universe. Try watching this movie and you will see that physics cannot explain everything and even the great physicists believe in the goat herders :

"What the bleep do we know" (you can watch it free on the Internet)

I'll believe in the Bible on spiritual matters.

I'll believe in scientists on scientific matters.

Make sense?

And by the way, some of the writers of the Bible were NOT goat herders or fishermen. There were kings, philosophers, and many others who contributed to the Bible. Read Proverbs some time. Many of them are still used today.

That depends on which physicists, goat herders and fishermen you are referring to. There are many physicists and scientists who back the fact that there was intelligence behind creation and there were many goat herders and fishermen who worshipped Baal.

You forgot the part about they thought all the world's animals lived within walking distance of Noah's village. Oh and let's not forget that when Cain was banished to the Land of Nod, and there took a wife, even though Cain and Abel were Adam and Eve's only children, that that must mean he coupled with an animal.

Oh, yes, the Bible is FULL of entertaining nonsense. I've yet to find a single mythology throughout history that wasn't riddled with similar ridiculousness based on ignorance.

There is no contradiction between the 2. You are stereotyping all scientists as atheists.

In any event, science cant comment on philosophy or religion because many of the truth claims in each cant be readily observed or tested in a sceintific manner.

You may as well have said why would you believe a baker over a mechanic? The 2 have nothing to do with each other.
