I am currently in the military - national guard- and I'm thinking about going to OCS. Is there a way to list in my contract before I sign, that after OCS, I want my duty assignment to be in Japan. I am marrying someone who will be stationed in Japan. Thank you.

I will be going Active to be able to go to Japan... but can I add this so that I am re-enlisting with the stipulation that I am going to be in Japan with my husband. Thanks.

There is always a way with the military you just have to find it. I'm assuming you are in the army. The only way i have heard of being able to this is to have the comander of the unit you want to join give you a let to submit with your packet saying he/she is reserving a spot for you when you complete OCS. There is also something called an ADSO. You can add a few years to your contract to get duty station of choice. I'm not exactly sure how this works because i haven't completed the process. I am also going to OCS and married to someone that i want to be stationed with. If i find any new info i will send it to you right away. Good Luck and God Bless

Well, you'll have to go Regular Army to go to Japan, for one. Second, join the Army Married Couples Program. Your spouse (if lower rank) will have to move to your station, or you could try to go to their's, whatever way you want. I'd be in GA right now if I wasn't deploying in Jan.

not duty station, no. besides. No Guard Bases in Japan. not an option anyway. You would have to fulfill your weekend obligation and training Stateside.

You can request it but that is about it. Even couples in the same branch are not garunteed 100% that they will be stationed together.

Hard to tell but I would be inclined to doubt it. Needs of the service always come first.

I think you can put a request in, but I don't think it is guaranteed. I could be wrong. Its happened to me before.
