we're all equally vulnerable. I'm sure all the believers who have died have thought themselves also to have the "shield of god", and it did them no good.

What false sense of security, by helping others you help yourself to learn the rights and wrongs of life. Now you don't have to hijack a plane then release you have done something wrong, you know that it is wrong before you do such an act. You turn the other cheek if someone has done wrong by you, you don' follow in there footsteps its destructive. Violence is not the answer
Now, what Todd Beamer said "Let's Roll" made the scene of what he thought was going to be a positive outcome into a real life action scene. Unfortunately he didn't succeed. I would have followed him if he said MariaAntonietta "Let's Roll"

72. Surah Al-Jinn (The Jinn)

6. 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief.
7. 'And they thought as you thought, that Allâh will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns).
8. 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires.
9. 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush.
10. 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path.
11. 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.).
There is 28 verses in this chapter about Spirits, I suggest you have a look. Come to LORD first then choose your prophet as you wish inshAllah. No, my dear... There are no security blankets in this cold and cruel world.... whether I belive in your god or not, bad things can and inevitably will get to me from time to time... and guess what... one day, I will die... and so will you.
I have evolved beyond the need for a false sense of security from imaginary freinds, but thanks anyway.
