We also went with FISH OIL as well. Great success actually. Our son has never had meds ever. I pray he never will have to. Some kids with adhd do, some don't. You don't mention his age....the acts silly, talks to much aren't abnormal at all for kids. They have imaginations and run wild with that. Our son however is very defiant on EVERYTHING so count your blessings your little one isn't. G'luck

I don't know how old your son is, but mine was diagnosed with ADHD at 4 years old. I found at that time the medications either made him cry all the time or totally stoned! I chose at that time to try Vitamin B Complex and No Sugar (candy bars etc.) I bought no sugar ice cream bought a diabetic cook book for desserts, and had to be a little more strict. He actually did very good after a while.

In grade 6 he started to revert back and his school work was suffering so I decided to take him back to the Dr. and "yes" he is back on some medication called CONCERTA, he is doing awesome. He is 14 years old and has gone from a 38 % in school to a 78%.

Good Luck it is not easy, But if I could do it you certainly can.

I have a daughter with ADHD and have never heard of using cod liver oil. Can you tell me where you found this info, I would be interested in checking it out. I do know that it took us a few years to find the right medication and dosage for her. Some children need a combination of medications. You mentioned having done research, so I am sure you feel this is option is best for your son.

I was diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago and tried 4 or 5 different medications before I found one that did not make me feel like a zombie or zone out. The one that kept me both focused and alert was Adderal Xr (30mg). I am now nearly 17 years old, and I have a 4.0 gpa! I have had great experience with it. We never tried anything natural, but if this fails, I would definitely try Adderal. GOOD LUCK!

Get him food with Omega-3 (sounds like what you're doing there). Coconut oil is also good...I cook with it.

Also give him things to eat that don't have artificial coloring, because I've heard that can set it off. Limit the sugar intake, don't give him high-fructose corn syrup or any artificial sweeteners. The less processed food is, the better, IMO. I give my son sandwiches on sprouted-grain bread...not only does it not have sugar, it also tends to make him regular, and I've tried the bread--it's really good. $4 a loaf but worth it!

Medications can do more harm than good.

My son has ADHD as well, he is 7. I didnt want to give him medicine, but I tried it anyway. He is on Metadate CD 20 mgs. It works great. He is still himself, doesnt act stoned or weird. He is just able to focus more..and pay better attention. His grades have dramatically improved. I dont know how long ago you tried meds, but try again. With ADHD meds, its trial and error. You have yo try different ones at different doses to find out which one works best with your child. Best of luck to you.

well if your not going to take it to heart, don't diagnose your son as it's easy to find an excuse, but it's wrong. here is something that will work and i promise, change his diet, i forgot what it is but look it up and you must be able to find a correlation between diets and ADD because my neighbour did it and it worked a treat
