When I go to see a symphony concert performed at the tabernacle on Temple square, the mormons want to look in my purse for weapons, why is this. They do not take my purse and search it, but ask me to look in my purse. The general authprities are not at these concerts, so I am not sure why they must see my purse for weapons and we are not at the airport either, so why is it a policy to look for weapons???

I went to see Michael Moore and my friend and I both got patted down by security looking for weapons. I almost felt violated. I asked the guard if he was going to by me a drink afterwards and he stopped and let us through.

It's just security.

Edit: Typically security does not search every single person at any event. That is probably why you weren't searched at the Salt Palace.

We are a trusting people but none the less the devil is our foe. We would love to let every one enjoy with out any security to deal with, however it would sure spoil your day if the woman who sat next to you or even a few rows from you had a bomb in her purse wouldn't it? Those who look are not judging you by what you carry in your purse but are only concerned with the safety of the whole.

This is common at many large gatherings. I went to a major league baseball game over the weekend and a friend had her purse searched.

At any type of event it is the policy to search for weapons. I took my children to a child's concert and had the diaper bag searched. Do not read more into this then the fact that it is policy for everywhere.

Why do you think? There are wackos everywhere. Read around this place. There are a TON of Mormon haters. So if a person was one, don't you think SLC would be a good place to start?! I don't take offense to it. I know that it is done for my safety.

It is just a security method. You shouldn't mind if you know that you have no guilt for carrying something"not too welcomed"
