The Bible is simply a religious text, like many religious texts in the world. It has its basis in Sumerian writings dating from thousands of years earlier.
The Bible contains many truths, but also many distortions of the truth. The biggest problem is that the Bible is primarily a symbolic work but many people want to interpret it literally.
The stories of creation in Genesis, Noah's ark, Adam & Eve are all perfect examples of symbolic parables with important truths that get lost in literal interpretation.
The greatest tragedy of all is that, as Jesus plainly tells us, God is a God of pure Love. Unfortunately, the Old Testament Jehova is jealous, wrathful and petty. Our justifications for war continue to find basis in these religious teachings.
God is pure Love, everything else is from the mind of man.

Yes, i truly believe it is. Who is any one person to say that the Bible is the word of God. There is no proof if is the word of God other than the Bible itself (Not sure if i even want to call that proof. it has changed so much over time, who knows what the original bible said) I don't think anyone will ever know for sure though.

There are internal proofs, and the testimony of many.
100% accuracy prophecy fulfillment might be considered one proof.
The fact that it in no way puts man on a pedestal is another. It tells exactly how man is, no soft-pedaling of the truth. Were it written only by mere men, there would have been some favoritism shown.
Over 40 different authors God used, over the course of centuries, yet they all agree on Who and how God is. If it were written by mere men there would have been glaring contradictions. There are none. Those that do not know God, misunderstand things and think they've found some supposed contradiction, but there are none.
Why no contradictions? Because it was inspired by One and ONLY One. Namely, God.
You try getting even 2 people to agree to write a book about God. Set them in different rooms. Different continents. Years apart. Bet they don't agree with each other.
The Bible, all the books and letters, taken together presents one harmonious whole.

How do we know there is a God? Because the Bible says so. How do we know the Bible is true? Because it is written (or at least dictated) by God. This is another great example of circular reasoning.

Actually, I don't believe the Bible ever says that it is the word of God---nowhere is this stated explicitly, or even implied. The Koran does this right on the first page, however. So which are you going to believe? Does it really make a difference?

For Christians that seems to be enough proof but most of them are not biblically fluent anyway and believed FIRST because of a highly charged emotional and spiritual experience before even studying the scriptures. So their approach is different.
However from a totally unbiased point of view, for someone who has not undergone any kind of spiritual ecastasy at a prayer meeting or gospel festival, it would be hard to prove such a thing.
Even in a court of law, self-claim is not proof. You need outside support to prove something is true. A person cannot just say, "I did not murder that person." and the judge goes, "Okay, I guess that's proof enough!"
There has to be corroborating evidence beyond all subjectivity and beyond all reasonable doubt.

Yes and no, I believe in G-d for a variety of reasons. One of the biblical reasons is because of the revelation at Mt. Sinai with 3 million Jews. I don’t believe in the Christian bible for a variety of reasons that are largely related to mistranslations in the bible. I don’t think you can base your belief solely on the bible; you have to have life experiences as well as faith that G-d has helped you.

Well, the bible says God can't lie and in the bible God says the bible is true so it must be (because he doesn't lie, which we know because the bible says so), therefore God can't lie and he's right when he says the bible is true. So the bible is true.
Hilarious.

rebel the bible was written to spread the word of God, not sentences. This confuses a lot of atheists...

Yes but it was also written by men who put it in there words and added punctuation which could have changed the original message.
