I too have been thinking of this. I am now thinking of using clothes line for most clothes, sheets, etc and using dryer for emergency basis-ie husband needs clean scrubs before the next shift. I think if I could cut back 4 out of 5 loads from being dried in dryer than it would be a start.

Done that thing. You'll find hanging clothes out on the clothes lines alot more labor intensive. So you will have to rearrange schedules. Try to have your lines over a well groomed lawn so that if items fall off they will not get dirty again. You must be ready for the weather as wind can send all your clothes off to the neighbors or rain can totally waste several hours of drying time. Clothes line size should be planned to accommodate for washer load size and amount of time to dry in your area. (you may have a load out of the washer waiting to dry but have no place to put it because the last load hasn't dried yet)

Hang your clothes out on a line. They smell so wonderful dried by nature. Especially sheets. I wouldn't get rid of mine though as where I live it is below zero 2-3 months each winter. Brrrr.

I live out in the country. We hang our clothes on the lines to dry. Works great!

Do what ever you want to do. A dryer has no impact on the climate, as the source for all heat on this planet is from the sun.

If your dryer were powered by a nuclear power plant, it would not be a problem.

"Solar dryers" save money--helps the environment--gives you exercise.

But keep the dryer for days when you need it.
