Muslims should tackle the extremists and bigots in THEIR own religion.

and so forth....

I think it is harder when outsiders of the faith try to point out the things that make for unrest and threaten peace, freedom and well being. More people within the respective religions need to stand up to the extremists.

If religious leaders of all communities come forth to bring about peace in the world it will work out magnificently because they bear a lot of influence upon their followers, more than the political leaders. This is a very good thought but it can never ever come true because there are so many inherent contradictions within and among various religions of the world that such a unity to bring about peace is impossible.
And it is such a pity indeed because religious intolerance is one of the major reasons for hatred and bloodshed in the world today.

Till now saeveral such attempts have been made, but in vain.

All religious leaders feel their religion is the one that brings peace and want all to come into it.So it is not possible to get any practicable solution.

The things will go like this only and the religions will be there.If the followers of all RELIGIONS UNDERSTAND WHAT EXACTLY THEIR RELIGION PREACHES AND PRACTICE IT..IT IS ENOUGH ...THERE WILL BE PEACE.

But the Religious leaders give wrong interpretations and inciting speeches to bring apart the religions.If this is curbed , I hope some solace will be there.

No Religion teaches Violencev and Hatred.Then why this blood shed and ill will?

I know their are groups like this going on. Religious leaders coming together and sharing their common beliefs in their different Religions. But only a few really are even interested in this higher understanding. The rest will just have to gradually evolve life after life. I have come to realize it is a process for everyone and when they are ready one life it will click. Wonderful Idea though. Still we should keep striving for that. World Peace. Your God is my God. Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Hari, etc. One God with many names and traditions.

They could, with the condition they find peace within themselves. Peace is a result of spiritual satisfaction and that is a result of practicing own's values, virtues and principles.

To do the right thing and be able to say ''Do as I do'' instead of ''Do as I say....:)'' - that is the sign that has to be vizible before religious leaders can become instruments for spreading peace.

First, they should work hard on being tolerant to each other... If they can't tolerate each other for different religious point of views, they can't preach peace ever. Without sincere tolerance and forgiveness, religion is empty.
