Even though you believe your soul goes on after you die
your body is supposed to be like a gift from God.
Wouldn't that make it your duty to take as best care of it as you possibly can? Y'know, outta respect since it's a gift. Plus if you don't you wonuldn't live as long and thus be able to do more good in the world.

So next time you're downing a double bacon cheeseburger......
are you disrespecting God?

In the new testament, God tells Peter he may eat what ever he chooses, as long as it does not make another stumble.
Moderation is probably the key. A steady diet of candy will kill an individual in under six months. Suicide is a sin, and eating this way with the knowledge of the consequences would seem wrong in God's eyes as well. A cigar on new years, and a bottle of wine at a wedding are one thing.... But 2 packs of cigarettes, and a bottle of wine everyday is another story. The last thing to consider is if the individual is putting the wine, cigarettes, cigars or the food above God.

Too much of anything can ultimately harm your body, even too much broccoli, for instance.
So, if I eat too much broccoli, am I disrespecting God?
Seriously, I really do love broccoli, especially with cheese...

You are right, of course, as far as you've taken it.
However, occasionally allowing yourself to enjoy, say, a double bacon cheeseburger, or a hot fudge sundae, or a day spent lying about reading a novel, or lolling in a boat dangling a line in the water...these things are not "disrespecting God"...if anything, each constitutes experiencing one of the many joys in a world He created.
Don't forget to thank Him for it!!

well, the bible does say that our bodies are the temples of God. We need to take care of them, yes, but you don't have to pull the whip on your self. Eating pure monkey fat for the fun of it is wrong, of course, but you can eat if you're hungry! If once in a while you feel like eating a double bacon cheese burger (just not for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day) you can have one! God is a loving, caring and, i believe, a playful being! enjoy life! life, love, family, friends, AND FOOD are all gifts from God, too!!

You're right. People are disrespecting God when they don't eat properly and exercise, but I don't think ONE cheeseburger is goint to put anyone over the edge, right?

All things in moderation. Anything can make you fat or ruin your health if you indulge in it too much. So I don't have a problem with double che's. I LOVE Them. I just try to eat healthy and respect myself. Faith can help me to keep discipline when I eat.

Yes!

Not taking care of yourself is as bad as not taking care of the other people in your life.

When God the Son became human in the form of Jesus, God blessed the human body and made it good and infused it with His grace.

Treating your body with gentleness, discipline and respect is just as important as attending to things of your soul. To say otherwise is a heresy, condemned by the Church centuries ago.

different than for eating and medicines i'm at a loss for what regulations bypass against unfastened will. it incredibly is from now on than the ten Commandments and regulations present in Leviticus. God gave us unfastened will and he, by ability of the introduction of regulations, suggested in case you pick to resign this unfastened will and stick to after him he will reward you with existence eternal. in case you pick to no longer take him up in this grant you have the unfastened will to realize this. in case you're taking him up on it and later exchange your recommendations you are able to exercising your unfastened will and provide up. Likewise, in case you pick to stay in society, you ought to obey the regulations or bypass away. As with God you are able to pick once you want to exercising this unfastened will. yet, doing so comes at a cost. Isolation, imprisonment, dying, and dying eternal.

Yes we should take care of our bodies because it is a gift. Christian or not. If either you believe it was a gift of God or a gift of your mother. It is still the gift of life. I believe God will take me when He is ready for me. And when I am called up to Heaven I will have my Heavenly body not my earthly.

I'm not a Christian, but doesn't this scenario come under the "desecrating a/the temple" of one's soul??? Something to think on, Christian folk! And while we're at it: Don't you think the Commandment: "Thou shalt not kill!" means everybody? There's no "except during wartime" clause in that commandment. There's no "but I don't mind if you blow up an abortion clinic, and kill all the people inside it." clause either. Seems pretty straightforward and clear to me: "Thou shalt no kill!" Any questions you born-again liars and hypocrites (and I'm not saying all of you are liars and hypocrites, just far too many of you)? To say nothing of murderers...

Have you seen the huge bodies lumbering out of the churches on Sunday? There must be an all you can eat buffet in there.

Eating in excess is a sin. As well as laziness. However when you get to the point that those type of things are the sins you most need to overcome you are well on your way to perfection.
