I'm sure it has a lot to do with how long you were in each job, your age, etc. For me, I'm 55, was in my last job 5+1/2 yrs. I held the job before that for 7-yrs.

Am I supposed to go back to my first employer right out of college?

I wouldnt list everyone of them - your resume would be pretty long if you did that.

Maybe instead of a section called "employment history", you can make one that is called "relevant employment history", and that way you only need to list work that you have done that would be relevant for your prospective employer to know.

Good luck

Look at how each job relates to what you are looking for now and include as far back as needed to show experience. When I was your age my last 11 years were a different field than before and after so I would go back 4 jobs to 1978 to get two in each field. If I ever leave this job I might only go back to 1989 or 1994 because this job is the same field as I was doing from 1974 to 1989.

Only list as far back as is relevant. If your first job out of college has nothing to do with what you are looking to do now, leave it off. On the other hand, if it shows that you have extensive breadth and depth of experience in a particular field, leave it on.

No we usually look at a 10year background so the last two jobs should be enough
