This is not a term of ethnicity my friend. It means a castrated male that worked in the palace. Unfortunately, the movies that depicted Ottoman life presented them as if all are Africans which was not necessarily the case. They came from multiple backgrounds, and were considered to be holding a privileged position. Some even got in higher positions as advisors of legal matters.

That's the way that Propaganda works. They try to frame public opinion by using different buzzwords to portray the same picture from different perspectives. Bush's grandpa funded Hitler and his daddy ran the CIA. Bush knows all about how to use propaganda. The PKK has been attacking Turkish civilians in Turkey with American weapons that were funnelled to them. Even the puppet government of Iraq considers the PKK to be a terrorist organization.

Eunuchs were for the Harem. They were castrated. Besides, there were a few Africans sold as slaves to rich and influential people. They worked as servants, maids, valets in the mansions of Ottoman Pashas. Usually they were treated well and later as a show of gratitude they were married to another slave and set free. Sometimes they prefered to still work for their former master, in which case they were assigned a cottage within the mansion grounds and lived there and worked for a salary. Those people still have descendants (black skinned people) who live in Turkey.
