Acrophobia is common: we evolved from tree dwelling primates: if they fell; they risked serious injury, or death. See phobia treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 27.

Absolutely not!!! I am also petrified of heights. I have even spent a very long period trying to dare myself to do things to conquer it and I am not succeeding to far but am better able to do some things. I use to "dead stop" in a road, 6 lanes or not if a bridge surprised me!!! I have panic attacks at times in high places and always light headed. If you work on not letting the fear build in those places and more so tell yourself see your ok, it might begin to help you in more and more areas. Definitely avoid looking over until you are in a secure area and can hang on and allow yourself to do it and learn that your still ok. It might help you. If you continue avoiding things due to the fear it will get worse not better. If you can go the other way you'll be able to enjoy alot more. I use to scan areas or things I had to avoid on trips and such, or I wouldnt go out at all. I didnt go anywhere that had any height to it. I got tired of it and began making myself do it then looking back and remembering I was ok the next time I did. I am doing better and able to go alot more places now too. I am still frozen in fear at times but I just give myself a little time and go back to it when I'm ready rather then right then unexpected. It helps me better deal with my fear rather then be imprisioned by it. Good Luck and your definitely not alone!! I know many who feel the same even on a step ladder or kitchen table which was me too once!!!!

I think fear of heights is a very common one. You can desensitize yourself some. I too am terrified of heights. A few years ago I worked on the 47th floor of a building with full floor to ceiling glass windows. At first, I was almost paralyzed with fear of falling through. Over time, I was able to sit right by one of the windows and even tilt my chair back towards it! So, if this fear bothers you, know that...
a) you have plenty of company (my brother is a professional pilot and is afraid of heights...
b) you can do some thing to help desensitize yourself.
Hope you go and enjoy the game...

No - there are at least two of us. Not much you can do except decide to work yourself out of it. Go with a friend who has no fear and is understanding. Walk up the stadium steps with your friend and then down. You'll find that repetitive exposure to heights where you can actually touch and feel them is not unlike running and growing a calous on your heel.
You'll become accustomed to the heights over time.

Actually, fear of heights is a very common phobia. It can be overcome with therapy (desensitization). Good luck with going to the game; hopefully, you can get seats down near the dugout!

Beleive me-you are not alone!! I am afraid of heights and falling. Along with a list of other things, hehe. So don't worry, it is a very common fear. When I have nightmares, that is one of the main topics-me falling and I can't scream. I have many dreams of falling or being on a thin ledge. And of course me on a thin ledge-I freeze and can't move-very scarey.
