peace be upon you
no ,middle easterners shouldn't give up Islam.
Everyone free to choose his religion and practise it.
muslims don't force you to follow their religion and will not hurt you if you respect them and their religion.

Boggernet dont be a ******.
I need to correct the question. They arnt hated becuse of islam, they are hated becuse they murder innocent people, beat women, and rape babies.
ok.... the last one might have been the eric cartmen in me.
Islam would be just fine....if it modernized and stoped being a religion for people who want to be slaves. Which it essentially breaks down to in the middle east. Look at Malcom X. He went from violent to calm. He was modern, peaceful, and I think he was married..... or close to it at some point.
Someone verufy that for me. I have to go in a minute.

Your question is more of a rant than anything else, but I'm going to answer it anyway, because I think an important point (or several) needs to be made here. 1) People should not be forced to give up their religion, under any circumstances. In fact, by trying to force people to give up their religion, one stoops to the same level as the Crusaders (who tried to impose their Christian beliefs on "pagans" and "heathens" through violence and brute force) and the Islamic terrorist movement (who also try to convert non-Muslims to their religion through assassinations and bombings). Just because you don't agree with someone else's lifestyle or beliefs, doesn't mean you have to challenge them, or try to make them change. 2) I don't know a whole lot about Islam, not being Muslim myself, but I can say with confidence that not all Muslims are the same. There are varying degrees of Islam, the same way there are with most other religions. Some people believe more strongly, or live more conservatively, or abide by their doctrine more strictly than others. As I said, I don't know for a fact that this is true, but I would be willing to bet quite a lot on it. I would guess that many Muslims don't follow the more strict and harsh doctrines of Islam, and that some Muslims are very liberal in their beliefs. 3) I have to say, I don't agree with your statement: "we need to become more secularised as a people". I think that each person should have a right to their own faith/beliefs, whether it be religion or secularism. I think it is fair to say that we should not let religion take over our lives, but I don't think there is any need to stamp it out completely. I can see your point about the strict laws in the Middle East, and the suggestion that they are based on religious doctrine, and I must admit, that is a fair point. Our governments should not force us to live by the rules and regulations of any one religion, but that they should write their laws according to basic human morals. I realise that this is easier said than done, as human morals are a debatable issue, but one should not rely entirely on religion for the way they live their life. Sure enough, many of the social rules and morals that we take for granted are included in the doctrines of various religions (e.g. don't steal, don't murder, etc.), but I don't think we need to follow them to the letter. As long as the law does not violate human rights or basic morals, I don't think it matters what it is based on. I'm sorry you feel so frustrated with the situation, and I can understand why you do. However, maybe in future you might want to think about things like this rationally and logically, and look at both sides, rather than just launch into a rant about it.
