Oh man, you are about to be blasted by the far rights with that question. I have given up asking questions like that b/c it seems everybody on here is for Bush's war. But I totally agree with you.

It is not a matter of whether we know the truth or not. Nor is it a matter of choice. We took an oath to protect and defend the constitution and the American way of life. AND to obey the orders of the officers appointed over us.
Not all service personnel agree with the policy in Iraq, but it does not matter. America needs an Army that does what it is supposed to do EVERY TIME, even when the politicians are making choices that we disagree with. How secure would you feel if the military said, "Screw it! I am not going to work today"?

Don't you realize that you are being played for a fool by all the Cut-and-Run Democrats who have goaded you into posting this ignorant question?
Most Soldiers who have been to Iraq believe in their mission. That's why so many of them keep re-upping to return and finish the job.

Do you know that you are being played, just like Cindy Sheehan, by a political party and it's politicians merely to get a vote.
Do you realize that our Soldiers and Marines are risking life and limb to keep you free and in your luxuries while they also give and protect the freedoms of people that would otherwise be slaughtered like pigs by tyrannical terrorists?
Do you realize that while you sit in your air conditioned office, our soldiers are putting on 30lbs worth of body armor and another 30 lbs of ammo so that they can go into the streets of Iraq searching out people who would like to kill you for no better reason than you aren't trying to kill me?
Do you realize that contrary to what Kerry says, our Soldiers are better educated than the average citizen?
In short, could you please wake up and show a little gratitude that our men are willing to protect you and others despite your lack of gratitude and thankful that at least the Iraqis show some, or should I say a LOT more than do you?

Does Viet Nam strike a chord? as quickly as politicians are in contact in the 'theatre of conflict', there is not any danger for finished victory. there have been many, many errors made for the period of the 1st Gulf conflict that opened a Pandora's field of issues. although Afghanistan looks to have been justified by using 9/11, lower back an entire victory wasn't achieved at recent. Iraq's issues began with 'embedded' correspondents, and merely like Viet Nam, pictures of the horrors of conflict became public opinion, and politicians, against the situation. Micro-handling conflicts by no skill leads to victory. What we've got's a thoroughly un-winable mess, and our troops are suffering the comparable destiny as those in Viet Nam - mismanagement, scuffling with with one hand tied in the back of their backs, disrespect from human beings at homestead, and on the mercy of an administration who's greater excited approximately 'image' than victory. individually, if Iraq and Afghanistan are so extremely considerable to us, then one nicely-placed nuke would desire to do the trick. conflict is hell, and different than that, there is not any foreseeable way out!

Theres nothing like reading a good, unbiased question. While I largely agree with your sentiment, the military obeys the orders it is given by a freely elected president who is commander in chief. I originally supported the war, since after 9/11 most americans wanted moslems to die and like most people, I wasn't too particular which moslems. I was willing to believe Bush's lies about WMD. I have since changed my mind, but I accept that we are engaged in a quagmire for which there is no neat solution. Whatever we do, we're screwed. If we stay the insurgents will simply bleed us to death, destroying our wonderful army. If we leave, Iran will dominate the area after a larger civil war. And a nuclear Iran IS NOT A GOOD THING.

Very interesting question! Would you feel more like a fool if you were to believe the President of the USA--or if you were to believe the anti-war left? Let's see-the Pres never spit on me when I came home--the Pres never called me a baby killer--the Pres never threw blood at the recruiting stations--the Pres never stood up in a debate and drown out the voice of the speaker--the Pres never went to visit the enemy--the Pres never called the USA the evil empire--the Pres just seemed to try to keep our country in tact--What do you think I should believe?? Nope, we're clueless. Absolute morons over here.
How 'bout this, THINK before you type random, useless crap. Ask a real question. I'm sure there are plenty of "our soldiers" in this forum that would be happy to give an honest, no BS answer.
Quick kicking the beehive.

America's Most capable and intelligent people make up the "fools" you speak of. I dare you to look at a WW2 vet in the eye and call him a fool. Their sacrifice affords you the ability to rant as you please. Be careful how you state your position.
