As a manager for a retail store, I feel it's best to wear something that is current, clean and neat as possible. Remember that hiring managers are looking for someone who will best represent what the store has to offer if there is no uniform. Unless you are applying for a store that requires employees to be in business attire, go with something that is not too business and not too casual. You want to represent yourself in the best way possible with what you have.

I have personally found that employers really appreciate when you dress nicely for your interview. It says, "I care about myself and I want to make a good impression." You don't have to go in completely formal attire, but at the very least dress "business casual." Don't go in with a short skirt, a top showing cleavage, or wear clothes with holes in them (even if you bought them that way). No matter what the job is, if you dress well, you'll give a great first impression, and be way ahead of most other applicants.

I wouldn't go in your school uniform. It may look nice, but the employer could assume that you did absolutely nothing to prepare for your interview. I would definitely change your top (give your backpack to a friend to hold while you go, then you won't have to worry about whether what you wear looks too formal).

Why not take a change of clothes to school and change before the job interview. Nice jeans and a shirt will look better than a school uniform.

you should probably keep the same school pants on, as long as they are dressy. but you should change the top. maybe something dressy, too. but not def. not something you would wear just around hangin with friends. look professional.

good luck.
